So many people (and pets!) are afraid of insects. They think bugs are gross and scary and they don't want anything to do with them. But not Charlotte. From a young age, the big cat has been fascinated by the tiny little creatures. When she was around 7 or 8, she kept a whole colony of roly poly bugs as pets in a large aquarium, researching the kind of environment they needed and the foods they liked, much to the consternation (and amusement) of her pack. Around the same time, she set up a bug zoo in her family's garage when they had a yard sale that year, complete with as many local species as she could find and cards next to each exhibit with information on its inhabitants. And now, even though she is an adult who hunts with the others in the pack and has other responsibilities, she still loves the little creatures. She always tries to save bugs from the other cats and if any little critters get in the house, she picks them up and puts them outside. She wishes more people realized the importance of insects on the world's ecosystem and she wished people wouldn't go right to squishing when they saw a bug. After all, every life is important, no matter how small.
