Do you ever wonder where the stars come from?
Born from the magic of our universe, we explain with the best of our ability through science, yet we never know enough to understand the full truth. What matters even more is what we feel when we look upon them in the night. Scattered among the cosmos to fill our otherwise empty skies, these beacons of light guide us through life as a source of inspiration, hopes and dreams. Now, what if I told you there is another kind of star that could bring those dreams to life? They are known as the clockwork stars; the mechanical marvels of the ancient Halcandrans.

These machines are usually massive in size, even to being of planetary proportions, and are known to have a face that is described as almost cat-like. It is believed the cat-like face was to pay homage a race that was associated with the Halcandrans, but tales of such a race were lost to time just as Halcandra itself was. They also have a symbol above their left eye resembling a shooting star or a comet, to allude to their role as ‘wishing stars’. More than just a title, it seems to be their purpose; the Halcandrans created many other legendary treasures ranging from self-piloting starships to a rod that safeguards the flow of dreams all with a mysterious power. It’s that very power, and their purpose, that gives the clockwork stars the ability to make wishes come true, should the requirements be met for the particular star of course.

The galaxy where the planet Popstar resides is known to have one known as Galactic Nova, who will grant wishes to those who gather the star power from each planet in the galaxy. On their own, Nova’s disposition is naturally docile and calm, preferring to cruise the galaxy or just drift off to sleep, but Nova also fulfills their duty as a clockwork star and will follow through on the wishes that need to be granted. It is unfortunate to say that Nova had to follow through on a bad one before, but was stopped by a pink puffball named Kirby. While believed the incident had destroyed Nova, there have been a few claims that Nova was sighted in the night skies on occasion. We can only hope that such an incident won’t happen again, especially considering the more recent crisis with what was presumably another clockwork star. We’ll just leave Nova alone for now and hope for the best...

While it is clear that clockwork stars are not to be taken lightly, they were likely created with good intentions by the long lost Halcandran civilization, and can be capable of great good if those who need them are of pure heart. So please, do not let the legacy of Halcandra be squandered on such selfish desires. If you choose to wish upon a star, use their power wisely to bring some good to this universe.
