you remade yourself in your ideal image.

it wasn't easy. it wasn't what others wanted for you, wasn't what society wanted. but it was what you wanted, and that's what matters. because you're the one who has to live with yourself for the rest of your life. not them, not your parents, not strangers, you. it's your body and it took you so, so long to understand that.

your body, your rules.

between money, time, effort, energy, it was challenging. it took a large amount of all of those things to bring you where you are today. you cut ties with people who you loved, but who in turn loved the old you. they're gone now. it's taken heartache and money, time, time, so much time, so much of it is a waiting game, but it's worth it. it's so, so worth it.

your body is a craft, and you have honed it.

like clay, malleable and impermanent, you molded yourself into what and who you wanted to be. using scissors and less literal means, you cut away parts of yourself that no longer served you as well as they used to. those parts weren't "you" anymore, simply scraps of paper littering the ground. you can sweep them up and get rid of them, now. it's okay. using glitter, paper, scissors, glue, clay, buttons and bows, markers, anything and everything you could get your hands on, you remade yourself into something and someone you actually wanted to be.

like a caterpillar out of its cocoon, you blossom.

you gathered your resources, slowly at times, out of necessity, and used them to create a cocoon around yourself, figurative, literal. you hunkered down, and your insides were pink and raw, and it hurts you when you move your jaw, but nonetheless, you took tiny steps forward.

forgive yourself.

you were young. you lacked the words and the experiences to explain yourself. you were shaped by your surroundings, for better and for worse. but you're not that person anymore.

you... are you.

you are more yourself than you have ever been. it's like getting older; you're simultaneously the oldest you've ever been, and yet the flow of time unceasingly marches on, taking you into the future step by step. you are more you than you've ever been, and the older you get, the more of yourself you discover. you wish you'd done this sooner, but you wouldn't give up where you are now for anything. like lazarus out of his tomb, you are reborn as the person you were always meant to be.
