What is a nendoroid?
A nendoroid is a tiny chibi like plastic figure (10cm). They're mainly designed after anime characters, video game characters and more. Their faces known as faceplates and other body parts are interchangeable, that means you can have two nendoroids and swap out their faces, accessories and bodies. Though it's harder to do with older models that were released earlier in 2006. Each nendoroid comes with a stand. Some stands have special images but not often and some nendoroids can actually be on thier own like the Belle held up by her dress nendoroid or Rapunzel held up by her hair. The majority of nendoroids also have tiny accessories that make them even more adorable! Some like Link DX version comes with a horse companion that you can even have him sit on. A DX version means that the specific nendoroid will come with more accessories and will cost a bit more. A typical nendoroid comes with one outfit, three faceplates with different expressions, some accessories-some as low as two accessories- the number ranges, and their stand. Some stores may also offer a "bonus" if you preorder them on their websites.
The price ranges for nendoroids from $25 usd to $60 but there really isn't a set price. You can also buy them from other people, however some nendoroids have bootlegs which is kind of like someone ripping off an artist work and claiming it as their own aka stealing. Many bootlegs will cost less than the original nendoroid $12-$18 and often have toxic paint that can potentially harm you, children and pets, it's also very frowned upon.
nendoroid petite, more and playsets
Nendoroid petite series are smaller versions of nendoroids but don't come with accessories. So in a sense mini figures (6.5 cm) that are just as adorable but not customizable or interchangeable. Some can be found through blind boxes but if you're looking for a specific one and don't want to go through multiples you can always find them being sold. Petits cost about $5-$15 depending where and when you buy them and popularity.Nendoroid more series are extra accessories, stands for you to display that have a suction cup so if you want to have your nendoroid at a workplace hanging from the desk corner or computer monitor you can with those. My favorite nendoroid more is "after parts 02" that include cat ears and tails that you can add onto your nendoroid!
Nendoroid playset series are diorama sets that you can put your nendoroid in. Playsets come with themes that can come from a specific anime scene, place or a western, or Japan theme. They come with accessories like chairs, tables and more with a specific set so your nendoroid can be sitting or standing in them. You can also make your own diorama or even have one made for you by someone else. I reccomend making one because it's really fun!
Photography
Like many other hobbies photography also comes into play with nendoroids. Many people use props, dioramas, miniature furniture, toys and doll houses to make nendoroids stand out in different scenarios. I'm still an amateur but here are mine.My collection
