The last time I was in Port Plunder, I had a rather awkward chance meeting with some old associates of mine. Fortunately for me, this encounter occurred at the Rathskeller Inn, which meant that they could not seriously harm me without incurring the wrath of the innkeeper, but they knew as well as I did that I lacked the funds to remain in this sanctuary indefinitely. If I was to escape with my skin, I would need to change my circumstances. I turned to the nearest drunk and asked, loudly,

"Is Sroki the Fetcher a pirate?"

Within minutes, the discussion had engulfed the entire room, and risen to approximately the volume of a full cannon volley.

"Yes, 'course Sroki's a pirate. They steals things from ships - ipso facto, they's a pirate."

"No they ain't a pirate; they be more akin to a "sea burglar" or somesuch. Sneaking about ain't piracy. Embarrassin', is what it is!"

"Wouldn't that just mean they're a bad pirate?"

"Bad pirate or no, they've stolen enough to buy every ship in this port ten times over!"

"What kind of pirate has no flag, no captain, no crew?"

"Yer just sore that the Fetcher got to the Sapphire Blade before ye did"

"No, we HAD the Blade, and the lousy worm stole it right from our vault!"

"Pirates oughtn't steal from pirates. It's disgraceful."

"Boo hoo, if ye can't hold on to yer loot it's yer own blasted fault. Don't go whinin' fer sympathy from us!"

... and so on. The sounds of debate grew fainter as I rowed away into the night.
