Ideas
Character Ideas:
Based on Cat Sith Mythology.
She prefers her name pronounced Sith, like in Star Wars, not like the myth "Shee," and not like "Scythe." The e is silent.
Art Ideas:
Dark graveyard/sidewalk night setting with rolling fog. Only her eyes are visible. As user hovers over the eyes her overlay slowly appears. Maybe use an animated gif?
First as a ghostly smoke, then skeleton, and lastly as creepy black cat. Her eyes are solid white no pupils.
You walk along in the cool night air, each breath visible in the moonlight while crickets are peacefully chirping away. A light breeze kicks up the stillness, sending a few leaves dancing across your path on the sidewalk. From the the corner of your eye you catch something else stir. Reflexively you look. Your mind jumping to conclusions before you can fully process what you thought you saw. Nothing is there, but the hair on the back of your neck stands on end as if something is still watching. You realize the crickets have gone silent. Nervous, you quicken your pace.
Was it always this foggy?Through the fog you think you catch the eyeshine of some large creature dead ahead. You can’t quite make it out but there’s a shadow of something large coming towards you. You stop and take a step back out of fear, but it’s just a mangy looking cat that breaks through the fog and trots towards you.
Your mind must be playing tricks on you, wasn't it bigger a second ago?Pet the cat
She trots up and rubs against your legs, purring. Still a bit unsure you look around briefly before stooping down to pet her. You laugh to yourself about how silly you were to be frightened over a lowly cat. She pushes into your hand purring louder as you scratch behind her ears. She playfully bats at your shoelaces. You take a few minutes to retie them with her “help” before standing back up to leave.
As you take a step forward, you hear a loud crack as huge tree comes crashing down without warning. It’s only a few paces ahead, landing right where you would have been walking if you hadn’t stopped for the cat. Stunned you look back for her, just in time to see her turn and fade out of existence as if she were made of fog herself.
The crickets begin chirping again as if nothing ever happened.
Ignore the cat
She trots up and attempts to rub against your legs a few times as you walk. Still a bit spooked you side step around her, nearly tripping on your untied shoelaces. She mews softly and lopes after you each time to try again. In a last ditch effort she flops down directly in your path. You almost step on her. Annoyed, you just want to be home and keep walking. This time she does not follow.
As you to take your next step, you hear a loud crack as huge tree comes crashing down without warning. You close your eyes and leap forward, hoping for the best. Somehow it just misses, landing right at your heels. You stare at it stunned for a few minutes. The fog has gotten even thicker now but you can just make out the cat's silhouette as she jumps up on top of the fallen tree. It almost seems like the fog is glowing from behind her.
Maybe it's from a street light you just didn’t notice?
You stand back up and brush yourself off. The cat jumps down to you, mewing softly. She tries to rub against your legs again. This time you let her. She purrs as she pushes into your hand before taking a few steps towards the tree, glancing back expectantly. Somehow you know she wants you to follow. As you climb back over the tree you see your shoe lying beside it. You bend down to pick it up thinking it odd you hadn’t realized it had fallen off. It’s then you realize with horror that it’s still on a foot....your foot!? You go to scream but no sound escapes. It's not like anyone is around to hear you anyways.
The cats pushes against you again, interrupting your shock. She begins purring louder than ever. It's as if she is trying to comfort you. Her pupil-less eyes softly shining as she looks up at you. Oddly you are calm as you follow her once more and disappear into the strange glowing fog.
The crickets begin chirping again along the sidewalk, empty now save for a fallen tree and its hapless victim.
