Naida (NEY-dah) is a water spirit, a naiad, who lives at the crossing of the rivers between Peka, Centropolis, and Riverside. She is one of the spirits who protect the fresh waters of Subeta and those who inhabit them. As a naiad, she is considered by some to be a goddess, albeit a minor one. There are those who would worship the naiads, but Naida cares not for worship. She is content most days to laze on the banks of the rivers or nearby lakes, dozing in the sunlight and keeping an eye on the myriad of creatures who call the water home. Do not be thrown by her sweet looks, however, because if you think you're going to trash the river or fish in the lake while she or her sisters are around, you would be mistaken. As a naiad, she has the power to bend the water to her will and communicate with its denizens. So when the fish aren't biting, it might not be your bad luck. It might be Naida telling them to leave the area. Or if you throw your soda can into the river when kayaking, that rogue wave that sends you sprawling into the cold water might not just be bad luck. Respect the waters and you'll never have to see that side of the adorable little water nymph!
