quick restock guide

Timing

The main shops usually restock every 5 minutes or so, though I've seen it go up to 6 or 7 minutes, but 5 minutes is usually when it'll restock again. If the shop says it last restocked 5 minutes or so, it will usually restock within the next minute. If you refresh around :50ish seconds, you may even seen new items being added to the shop before the shops say it's restocked now. Being good at restocking usually requires watching the time pretty closely.

Everything runs by the minute. If the shop says 'Restocked Now', the message will appear for an entire minute.

It should be noted that the shops clear at 10PM Subeta time. This means ALL the shops will empty out at 10PM sharp, even if the shop has restocked recently. This is an automatic process.

Shop Discounts

There are two kinds of shop discounts - the buff which will give you 15% off for a few hours and can be earned by buying from the main shops, even if you don't get the item. The other kind is the a discount card, which is a physical item you must keep in your inventory in order to use them. It still counts if you lock it in your inventory, that way it's not accidentally moved or affected by the pet zapper. However, due to the cost of the discount cards, I suggest that only people who are serious about restocking get one, as they will take a while for the cards to pay themselves off.

The best part about the cards is that will stack with the buff. One discount will apply to the base price, and then the second will apply to the discounted price.

How to Start

Watching Shops

I suggest picking a smaller shop and watching it for a bit, or watching which items are being asked for by quest givers. Although every shop CAN be profitable, that does not mean that every item in every shop is worth grabbing, especially if those are items are of a lower rarity. Items of a lower rarity will most likely always be sitting in a shop, whereas rarer items will appear infrequently.

This is why watching a shop is useful. If you watch a shop and get a feel of which items tend to sit for a while, the rare items will pop out more because it's something different that you may not have seen in the shop before. These unfamiliar items that come and go a lot will most likely be the items that are more profitable than the items that sit there for a while. I suggest buying anything you aren't familiar with, as it can help you learn which items are good to restock. The worst thing that can happen is that you lose a little bit of money, or you have an item that is kind of profitable but might sit around a bit. The best case is that you get an item that is very profitable!

Sometimes rarer items will only have one of it in stock, but this is not true for all items that are profitable. In Spell Galore for example, Siren Songs are a good item to pick up and they will come in batches of three. In the same shop, Whale Fat is also an item worth grabbing, but it only comes in stacks of one. Both items are profitable, but the Whale Fat is rarer and and will be worth more in user shops. Siren Songs will appear more frequently and is also an item Maleria may ask for, so it can be a source of steady profit as well even though it's not as rare.

Learning all the items in a shop is something that takes time and patience. Bigger shops, such as the Plushie Palor, will take longer to learn than a smaller shop like Spells Galore (my personal favourite) or Stick it to the Man.

Buying and Learning

This is something I started doing when I got the 30% discount card paired with the Restocking Buff. With this method, I would go to a unfamiliar, big shop and just buy anything that just in single stacks (one left in shop). With both discounts active, this meant that basically every item was profitable, but the margins were all over the place and weren't as consistent as Spells Galore for example, where most items are under 500sP and rares can usually net you over 20k. Sometimes items would be as little as few hundred sP or could could get a a good 60k in profit.

I find that with this method, it's in your best interest to get a lot of items. However, the thing to note with this method is that you may get burned more often and may lose profit on items, especially if you don't have a discount card, but it's still a valid way of restocking without needing to know a shop inside and out.

Restocking at Freyalise Trading Company

This shop gets its own section because it's notorious for being a shop were everything sells out in a good 30 seconds or so and it can be hard to grab anything during Keelhauliday, let alone anything that might be profitable. This section will therefore be more about speed and position.

The section about timing above is very important here. If it's been five minutes and the Subeta clock has :45 seconds, I would just start refreshing because items will tend to appear before the message changes to 'Restocked Now'. I suggest refreshing via keyboard shortcuts (such CTRL+R) with one hand while having having another down at the mouse of track pad. If on mobile, you can tap on the shop keeper to refresh. On a computer or laptop, I like keeping my cursor somewhere in the empty space while waiting for items so that my cursor is already in the general area where items appear. I also like to zoom out the page a lot so that I don't have scroll down to see items.

I never look at which items I actually grab. I focus on getting items and hoping for the best than trying to pick and choose. This means it's kind of easy to lose money on Keel, especially if you end up grabbing an older item that's already circulated through quests or the vending machine for a bit. Newer items tend to appear on the bottom and older ones tend to appear on the top.
