The Gourd Witch knows you were there.

You're new here, nobody warned you not to visit the creepy house on the edge of town. But you came. You also brought pumpkin pie, homemade of course. There's a little pumpkin drawn on top. Clever.

The path is long, you're jumping on each stone individually whilst holding onto the pie with both hands. You almost trip, but manage to right yourself at the last moment. To your left, there's a small patch of pumpkins. They look ripe.

You reach the door, and notice the lights are on so somebody must be home. You knock, and when nobody answers you try again. The door swings open, but nobody is standing there to greet you.

The hall looks dark, but weren't the lights on? You hesitate, standing there with your homemade pie, and think "I'll just find somewhere to put it and leave a note". After stumbling through the dark, (you couldn't find the light switch) you see a flickering coming from one of the rooms. "Hello?" Nobody responds, and the door clicks shut behind you.

As you move closer to the source of the light, you notice that the house seems to be filled with gourds. Pumpkins here, pumpkins there, pumpkins everywhere. You shrug, and push the ajar door fully open with your shoulder. "Sorry I-" The words barely leave your mouth before you gasp and bite your lip. The room is crammed full of even more pumpkin related items, there's pies, cakes, breads and even carved pumpkins casting shapes around the edges of the room. Right in the middle, on a little dish, sits a large pumpkin candle. You notice it's lit, but its not melting much and doesn't smell of anything.

Beside the candle, there is a tiny pumpkin which you think you can hear a tiny giggle coming from. "Couldn't be." You think, and notice some other suspiciously gooey-looking gourds nearby. You decide you've had enough, and place your homemade pumpkin pie amongst the others on the table. You turn around to leave, but a noise makes you stop to look at the candle again. It's now looking up at you with big green eyes, "Did it have those before?!" you wonder, and rub your own eyes to look again. You step closer.

You're right in front of it now, it definitely didn't look like that before. "Did it just blink?" You exclaim as you start to back away slowly. Something shouts "BOO!" at you, which makes you fall. You scramble on your hands and knees and run out of the room. You run towards the front door, pull it open quickly and run out of the house. You're glad it wasn't locked.

The candle has started to laugh, everything in the room is laughing now. The Gourd Witch knows you were there, and whilst she loves visitors, she also likes to play tricks with her magic. The candle itself was one of her experiments, and she certainly gave you a Spook!
