Disclaimer: I do not own Among Us, and take liberties with this story that are not established canon. Amelie Medarch is my original character, who just happens to fit with the Among Us theme.
I can not say how long it’s been since my people were hunted by the ones who call themselves human. Many were captured, studied, and dissected, for science, they say. I know little of their science. It is all I can do to keep my freedom. Those of us who managed to escape have learned to disguise ourselves. We adopted the look of the humans, learned their speech and mannerisms. We are indistinguishable from them. Many of my people began to fight back… killing the humans at our home on Polus, and taking ships. The ones who witnessed our shapeshifting to mimic them named our species imposter.
The other imposters want to fight, to hunt and annihilate the humans the way they hunted us. But I am no revolutionary or avenger. I simply want to live and explore. I managed to claim a ship, the Skeld. I traveled to one of the human outposts called Mira, and claimed to be a survivor, claimed to have been delivering supplies when the imposters attacked. They believed me. I created the identity, Amelie Medarch, and became Captain of the Skald. I began to run shipments between their planets, stations, and outposts.
I was running a successful delivery service mostly on my own, eventually being joined by one of my own people who just wanted to explore the galaxy and be away from the fighting, like myself. Their name was Andi Kavrel. We worked well together, and quickly grew close. Andi and I were from different settlements on Polus, and had never met until we both made lives for ourselves among the humans. We grew close, and became partners, making the Skeld our home. But of course, humans are destructive by nature, and with my people fighting back, I suppose in hindsight, my peace was always limited.
They took my ship. They equipped her with weapons and shields for war, and then sent an eleven-person crew to seize control, and leave my partner and I behind. That was their plan anyway… but I am not ready to give up the life I’ve made with Andi, traveling among the stars. And so I fought back, my partner with me. We killed two of their crewmates, and left them at the outpost they boarded my ship at, and donned their uniforms, boarding the ship right as the doors shut and the ship departed.
Unfortunately, we were seen boarding by one of the crew. So we killed him too, and sent the body out the garbage chute into space. The body was seen though, outside the window, and reported to their commander. Nobody was suspicious of us, but everyone was nervous, so after a glance at Andi, knowing their expression mirrored my own, and our smirks hidden by the black and purple helmets we’d taken from the ones we’d killed before boarding our ship, I spoke in a neutral tone.
“We should be careful, Commander. There must be an imposter among us.”
