I have very fond memories of the time I found Quirkkie.
It happened during my vacations in the Omen Islands. I was alone cause I wanted some time for myself, a friend volunteered to babysit my pets... but I was missing them right away!
After unpacking in the hotel and having a light lunch, I got ready for my diving class in the afternoon.
The sea surrounding the islands was full of life and beautiful critters, not to mention the many ships and boats that sailed around.
I wasn't expecting my peaceful afternoon to be interrupted by some pirates! They pulled me out of the water and demanded all my money and belongings. I had none obviously since I was diving, but they asked me for my credit card number.
Now on the ship, they tied me up and decided to sell me as a butler. That's when we heard something smashing against the boat, it was a lone qrykee apparently trying to save me. As I found out later, he'd see me swimming around in the dangerous waters and had spent the entire day protecting me from other threats.
But even he was unable to sink a ship, the pirates laughed in his face... and punched me! I was hopeless.
Right after the waters started bubbling and from the depths rised that woman, Merana. She turned the qrykee into a Hydrus and granted him the power to bite a hole in the side of the boat. Soon, the pirates were food for the fishes (not really, Quirkkie ate them all). Merana took all the treasure as payment and left.
Back in the coast, I named the qrykee and welcomed him into my family.
We spent the rest of the weekend having a nice time at sea.
