Nikita Bashkin; Lonely Wandering Soul

Nikita is a soft-spoken and stern man, with a strong love of the outdoors. He is somewhat shy, and doesn’t interact much with people he doesn’t know yet. Which isn’t the best trait, as a census worker. But he goes by the philosophy of sucking it up and being a man. He is easily annoyed, but doesn’t complain often. His dream is to marry miss Vashti Hopkins and work as an interstate truck driver.

He was born and raised in Chukotka, Russia. After high school, he decided to leave the country to seek a higher education in the US to study statistics. Per his request, his family followed along, and settled in Utah. While studying at the university of Utah, he met Vashti Hopkins, and the two fell in love. The two agreed to marry once they had graduated, and Nikita promptly converted to Mormonism to share her faith. His family, unfortunately, was heartbroken by this. Not wanting to hurt his family anymore, Nikita and Vashti ran off together to Kanab, where they settled near Vashti’s family. He began work as a census worker, but constantly desires a life of freedom, where he may explore the open road as he wills. But that dream may not come to life until they marry, which, after being swamped by student loan debts, is sadly impossible for a few more years..

Vasya

Vasiliy Milford-Petrov is an old friend of Nikita's. The two of them met in their teenage years, when Vasiliy moved to Chukotka to live with his friend Boris. Vasiliy is a wild boy, with too much energy and too little common sense. Nikita was never close to Vasiliy, but he somewhat pitied the boy, since he often got into trouble.
