Sommervald
Enter the mines

Numb Veins

"Go.", you think to yourself as you make your way through this dark thicket. Your feet hurt, pebbles made their way into your shoes. It's not far, you keep mumbling. The camp is near and you will rest eventually. There is barely a cloud in the sky to cover the bright light of the moon. The path unfolds by itself - you are feeling full of energy. It has been days, weeks or months since you have entered the Sommervald out of pure curiosity, yet here you are, eagerly wandering around aimlessly. Aimlessly you venture as if you could never run out of stamina. Aimlessly you gaze upon the dry soil and the dead trees that couldn't be less welcoming. Aimlessly you drown deeper and deeper with this fog in your head. Something is driving you to this one place. This one place, this one place, where is it? You're not looking, you're not looking for it, it, this one place. Don't tilt your head, go straight, straight, yes, there, close, closer, faster, jump, stop. The Mine.

"Go on.", Idugigante says. That last step fills you with accomplishment and joy. It's an unusual rush of energy. You are exhausted, you can't wait to get home, but there is just one last thing to do. You've come so far - explore. An old wagon, some tattered tents, some burned books and a small entrance to a lit cave. Softly you touch the stone while you enter this heart of Sommervald. That place that you so desperately were craving to explore and suddenly, a slimy bunch of creatures floats by, leaving a trail of memories. Memories of your way to this very place. Memories of how you have been here before. Memories of how you will be here again.

"Go deeper.", you say. You decide to take a look around. There is all kinds of treasure, yet you decide to not take everything with you. This time around, you will be humble. The creatures, while floating, keep picking up those precious little trinkets that you have decided to take with you. They know you well; you trust them. With a final sigh of relief, you examine the mine for a last time. Thrilling, you say. Fulfilling.

Resonating Pebbles

Something fills you with unsease as you let the edges of the pebbles roll over the palm of your hand. The energy is very familiar and gives off a sound very similar to a bird singing. After further examination you see that some gooey particles are filling the pores of the little stones. You are unsure whether this was part of a building or a creature.

Heavy Geode

A sweet scent reaches your nose as you desperately try to push this little geode out of the cave. It was heavier than anticipated and your clothes are covered in a pollen-like dust. Surprisingly, it doesn't bother you. The warmth is soothing - the feel of it reassuring. You dare to taste it and quickly grab your bottle of water to overcome that unreal saltiness.

Disintegrating Mushroom

The cave was filled with little mushrooms that were slowly fading away as you progressed through the system. You question yourself when you catch yourself feeling pity for the little guy. They seemed sad and shy, after all. This one is different, though and seems rather ... curious?

Broken Skull

On your way back you are riddled by the shape of the skull. Five perfect holes seem to be made for the eyes. The jaw is barely intact, yet you very well know that never have you ever seen a creature with such a head shape. Maybe it got beaten up under all of these rocks. Maybe someone just didn't want to leave this place. Regardless, this was your last hint to leave this place.

Crumbling Slate

That stone feels like a highly condensed pile of sand that was used for writing. You have no clue of what it might say, so maybe someone at home might help you out. Vibrations from the inside intensify as you leave the cave. Let's hope that it won't break.

Murmuring Spirit Stone

Something ... is whispering. I am home.
