You should be more careful traveling alone too close to dusk. You realize this now, as your friend's cabin - where you've perhaps had a bit too much to drink - has long disappeared into the distance, and as the sun sinks below the horizon, a dense fog slowly creeps in and settles all around you, hanging in the air like spiderwebs made of mist. There had been no sign through all of the lovely day that the weather would shift, but the winds are picking up now, and you can't help but feel like it carries with it a strange sound... like an eerie howling, rising and falling on the breeze.

When you look around to see a full moon rising behind you, you feel your heartbeat quicken, along with the pace of your treading feet. Stumbling over roots and vines, you can't help but think of the tales you've heard drifting through the village - tall tales, you'd been sure - of dangerous creatures lurking in the night, under the full moon's glow. But now your palms are sweating as you're sure you hear the subtle sounds of twigs snapping behind you, and suddenly all of these stories, and warnings to stay out of the woods at night, are racing through your mind. At this point you are not walking but jogging, when suddenly you trip over a large and gnarled vine, and as you feel your ankles twist beneath you, the last thing you remember is hitting your head on a tree as you slip into a deep, dark ravine.

When you awake you are wet, and cold, and you feel yourself being heaved by someone - or something - out of the depths of the creek you had fallen into. You hear a man's voice, tsk-tsking as he drags you, saying, "Alright don't worry, you've taken quite the tumble. Let's get you fixed up..." As your eyes adjust to the darkness you realize this is no man but a creature, covered in fur with a long, toothy grin. Instinctively you lurch and pull backwards against the creature's grip, but your ankle feels broken, and it quickly becomes apparent you are not going anywhere. "Look, you can fight me or you can work with me here," the creature sighs, "but believe it or not I'm trying to help you. You're hurt."

In the recesses of the cave you can see the flickering light of a fire, and your need to get warm outweighs the fight-or-flight response. As you stand and he helps you hobble through the cave, the light of the fire illuminates the litter strewn about - broken and scattered remnants of a previous life. You see a picture on the wall with a smashed frame, and realize the eyes look familiar...

They are the same eyes of the creature standing before you.
