A very special pet to me.
This pet is a tribute to my late mother who died December 28, 2001 from endometrial cancer.
To most of the world she's another lost from cancer, but to me, she was the world.
My mom fought her battle as long and hard as she could for over twelve months. Even in that time she was the most faithful mother and wife I could have known. She was devote to our church and even in the face of almost certain death at her stage three cancer, she pressed on. She did everything she wanted to do, never taking a moment to think that could be the last time she did it.
She saw us Christmas Eve. I remember that night so vividly as it was the last time I saw my mom. She didn't recognize us; my sister, my dad and myself. Heartache. People can say that their boyfriend broke their heart, that getting into a fight is the worst thing ever, but those pains were nothing compared to this. My mom was on so much medication to numb out the pain that she didn't know who we were, who my dad was, whom she had been married to for over 25 years. I cried that never before.
She died only a few days later, the day after my dad's 50th birthday.
