I've been feeling real sick lately, but I can tell Amanda is feeling worse. She didn't sleep all night and her face has been puffy and red for couple days now. I try to cuddle her to make her feel better, but I'm having a hard time moving around and my attempts just seem to make her cry more.

She seems real concerned when I start breathing through my mouth. I wish I could breathe through my nose like normal, but it doesn't seem to be working. At least I can still purr. I want Amanda to know I'm still happy.

Oh god, the cat carrier. She's lucky I'm too tired to run away.

I can tell this is the vet. I recognize the shiny table. But something is different. The lady isn't poking me, measuring me, or shoving pills down my mouth. She's just...looking. And everyone is crying. Amanda says everything will be alright, so I'm not scared. Just confused.

Suddenly, it's just me and Amanda. She's not saying anything....just holding me. And crying. I try to purr but it's not working. I hope she understands.

After a while the lady comes back in. I can't see her 'cause Amanda is holding me tight, but I can hear her and soon I feel a little prick in my back.

Amanda starts crying harder. I don't know why, because suddenly I feel...better. All the pains are gone and I don't have trouble breathing. I feel good. As I relax my legs and close my eyes, I can hear Amanda say, "I love you, little buddy."

I love you too, mommy.
