History: Prior to being adopted, Souten was held in a testing facility after being captured as a small child living in the city. This facility was trying to figure out how to use drugs to make a controlled sound to color synesthesia. For the most part, she was treated fine, at first. The only odd thing to her was that they would make her drink strange concoctions of chemicals. Then, for the first time in this facility, she developed a seemingly permanent synesthesia, and by using the mixtures they forced on her they created four other subjects, all to be observed carefully. Souten was then alternatively starved or well-fed, or her holding cell would be too hot or two cold, but also, now and then she would be brought in for "observations".
During these times when she was observed, she was left alone in peace, to focus on the music and the colors, and music became her "safe place". Also during her observations, they would torment her by breaking musical instruments, and the horrid noises would make her unable to see and caused pain for minutes at a time. Once she was sightless for half of an hour and they just left her on the floor, sobbing.
Eventually the facility was busted, and all the inhabitants set for adoption, so that they could find a peaceful home with someone to love them. Souten was adopted into a large loving family, where she was given music CD's, a violin of her own, even books and lessons so that Souten could make her own "beautiful colors." Starting a new, normal life, Souten was given an allowance, and she used it to buy a Sun Kora Elixir, but after drinking it she was in severe pain for days. During the rare instances when she wasn't in pain, she would look in the mirror and smile at her reflection sickly. Eventually, the strange pains died down, and she felt normal again, then suddenly, her skin started to peel off, and like a snake, she shed off her skin and fur, and underneath was new skin and fur, black and green, and her eyes started to glow. She then discovered that all the chemicals forced on her that caused this strange change, but she is fine with it.
