Aley is rather short, with auburn hair that is short and spiky on the top with the bottom section long enough to tie up into two small pigtails which looks like the remnants of long braids cut off to suit the disguise His fringe however, is long enough to reach his chin on the right side but on the left it only reaches to his eyebrow. Aley has bright green eyes that seem to glow (but actually don't) when he's angry. His clothes consist of a leather jerkin belted at the waist by a belt with pouches and drapes down to just beyond his rear with a cotton under shirt with the sleeves cut off and fashioned into the unique arm warmers he wears, tucked into long almost elbow length, fingerless gloves. His trousers are made from a similar material that his shirt is made from, magically strengthened to last longer than normal. His shoes are small fitting, belted knee high women's riding boots.

His people—whose name is also his true second name—are nomadic, due to a catastrophe that destroyed their homeland. Everything in the capital city and the surrounding lands were destroyed, with only a few hundred people in the farthest, outlying villages surviving. While the event itself was three hundred years ago, they never recovered fully and numbers are starting to fall once again.

Alfred's parents were killed in an ambush and he was raised by the others in his group. He doesn't say much more than that and can get very defensive when pressed for information about his childhood. Alfred seems like he concentrates on the -now- rather than the past, as each day is a challenge in finding someone that is very dear to him. But Alfred never really did get over the past.

Alfred is resourceful, self reliant and very good at reading people. He often comes across as cold and unapproachable, unless you have something he wants. Aley is a convincing actor, playing whatever persona he needs to get what he wants. But sometimes, he loses track of what it is that he really wants. What he really is. His motivation is to find her and bring her home. Pushing people away that take a genuine interest in him hurts more than he cares to admit. He has few friends and many more people that hate him. Inside he hates the reputation he has been given but he denys the fact that he hates it. His true personality he locked away when she disappeared.

All these personas, the faces people see are defences. Alfred knows that one day he will crack and everything will fall to pieces.

Alfred, like his people commands magic with rune dancing. Fluid movements as well as knowing the right forms and shapes are the key to casting rune magic. While he can cast magic in all elements, he favours fire. His fire magic is a lot stronger than the rest. Because of the active movements of Runedancing, if Alfred breaks his arm or a leg he would be at a serious disadvantage.

Alfred hopes with all his heart that he will find her, and will bring her home. But he knows that it might never happen, and that he will be searching for most of his life.
