Maurelle is rather short of stature, only 5’7â€, and has a rather muscular frame for his size. He has broad shoulders and a sculpted look that would better fit a taller man. His choppy hair, silver even in his youth, rests messily above an angular, handsome face. He has piercing grey eyes and thick, drawn brows which rest over a hooked, beaklike nose and thin lips. His jaw is strong but narrow and typically clean-shaven. He gives off an air of intense thought and even coldness at times.
Maurelle definitely does not care about what he wears. His friends and family pick out his clothes, and usually he does fine with dressing himself, but sometimes he chooses outrageous combinations – though he really could not care less. Most of his wardrobe is jeans and trousers, t-shirts and button-ups, and sport jackets. On his most brilliant days he hardly gets dressed at all.
Maurelle certainly has a cold air about him which has most people keeping their distance. This is because his head is almost always with his work, rather than the task her person before him. He sees few activities unrelated to his work as worthwhile and sees no reason to be anything but honest about it. This gives him a sense of self-involvedness. When not lost in his math, he often finds himself clueless about his friend’s lives, which makes him feel bad because they listen to him talk about his work whenever he needs an ear (though they understand very little of it). He is not very forthcoming about personal life because he finds it very dull himself, but he does find himself feeling lonely at times. He used to think math was all he needed, but now he is beginning to question that.
Underneath it all, he cares about the people around him, but he struggles immensely with how to tell them that. He thinks himself incredibly uninteresting and awkward and doesn’t understand why his friends associate with him, although he appreciates it very much. If it weren’t for them, he would have lost himself entirely in his work long ago, and would have no hope.
He is obviously a workaholic, but of his own breed – he ignores deadlines and works on what he wants to when he wants to. The only way he can manage this is by being brilliant – people learn to put up with it if they want results.
