I had always wanted to fly...

Physical Description:Paupie generally wears a short sleeveless dress that flares at the end. The ends of the dress fray out most likely from her constant movement. In general, Paupie doesn't wear anything to cover her arms, but she does enjoy wearing striped stockings for the bottom of her feet. She will also wear spandex shorts or leggings.

The most important part of Paupie's outfit is her winged backpack. It's a one-arm backpack that ALWAYS goes over her right shoulder. This backpack is the symbol of Paupie's ability to fly. She doesn't need wings to fly, but she says, "Flying needs wings."

How it started...

To fly was something out of the ordinary in the time of Paupie's beginning. Still, in society then, flying was only available through the usage of limited non-renewable resources and energy. Not much (or enough) was done regarding the complications due to these limitations despite the growing questions and tension surrounding the topic. That is, until a series of natural disasters cascaded across the planet called the "Global Divide". Within a period of two years, the planet had been ripped apart by a laundry list of unforgiving catastrophes. In many parts of the globe the land was destroyed beyond repair. The cost of lost lives and damage done was more than what any one country could afford to fix.

One particular problem arose shortly after the first few waves of Global Divide hit areas close to nuclear plants across the globe. The result was massive widespread panic regarding nuclear radiation leakage. The leakage was a hundred times more than scientists and engineers had predicted, but it was reported that the damage was "under control". The report was quickly accepted without further questioning as civilizations across the world had little time for questions in the face of doom and destruction. Unfortunately, this was, but the start of a new generation of problems. Flying, being one of them.

Rain poured endlessly for days in Paupie's region. Flooding became the main cause for concern as it halted all traffic and transportation. Landslides, widespread power outages, polluted water sources, etc. were all headaches that only got worse as the rain continued to fall.

In the midst of much fatigue, stress, and hunger, Paupie fell asleep one night and dreamed she was floating on air. In her dream, she hovered and glided effortlessly through the clouds like a bird. The sensation was so real Paupie laughed with joy causing her body to shake in her sleep. It was enough to wake her when Paupie realized she was 4 feet in the air! Eyes now wide open, Paupie could see that she really was flying and began to panic. Limbs waving about frantically, Paupie fumbled through the air towards her computer to look up signs and symptoms of flying delusions. Perhaps she felt the stress finally made her mental. Then, she saw the news headlines that caused her heart to drop, "Global divide to create super powers?"

Articles were on fire, the commotion chaotic. People across the world were sending in reports about experiencing strange new "powers". Paupie skimmed through the chatting and mayhem, but couldn't figure it out... Was this new power to help or to harm? Where did they come from and why was this happening? All sorts of questions swarmed Paupie's already stressed out head. It was probably best to sleep and create a plan in the morning. If only she could figure out how to get down...
