The noise, albeit steady, was faint even as it drew near; the monotonous thumping of footsteps on the hard stone ground. It wasn't much, less so when pitted against the constant wails of torment and angst that filled most of Hell, but it's abnormality was more than enough to stir the beast that guarded the entrance to hell.
The coiled dragon laid yards from the imposing entrance; appearing much like a cave, with sharp edges that resembled the fangs of the beast that lay nearby, basking on the flames that plagued the underworld. Leviathan, in his truest form, hissed as he shifted; like water being dumped on a roaring fire, his eyes almost burning with the annoyance of his ruined nap.
"This'd best be important." The, almost serpentine, dragon's voice bellowed through what he considered to be his chambers; like a siren, almost drowning the cries of discontent, challenging whomever was approaching.
"As loud as ever, my prince." The only response offered, at first, by a calm yet equally imposing voice as the figure neared. That was all that needed to be said, though. His Lord's voice alone spoke for itself, yet it did little to calm Leviathan. Lucifer rarely ventured this far from his domain, his presence would doubtfully be a good thing.
Silence fell between the two as the demon lord came to a stop yards from his prince; he appeared as nothing more than a proud man, though Lucifer was anything but. "You look well Levi." He offered, seeming polite enough; the dragon growled in return.
"Cut the shit, what is it you want?"
"Very well." A chuckle, as if he were amused by the anger. "I require you topside for a while, some business needs tending to you could say."
A seething growl, as the dragon moved again; scales scraping against the stone as he stood at full length, towering over his master. "I have business to attend to here, in case you've forgotten." Levi was, naturally, referring to his position of guarding the main entrance (and exit) from hell. "Perhaps you should send another prince, most of them have nothing better to do than lay around."
"I considered it, though in terms of production, you're the one who will get my deeds taken care of." Lucifer waved an idle hand, finding the entire conversation petty; albeit unsurprising, what else could one expect from a demon born of envy. "One of them can take your post in your absence.... unless of course you're refusing me." Less a question, than a statement. No one refused their lord and master; not without regret, anyways.
Levi offered no formal reply; just a snarl, before diving into the boiling water that surrounded Hellmouth, as if heading toward one of the few portals that led to the human realm, to further wait for his lord's demands. He was heading to that realm, topside as they usually referred to it, true enough though the prince hadn't the slightest intention of fulfilling Lucifer's requests.
If one of the other, pathetic, princes could so easily take his watch at the entrance of hell, then one of them could easily be sent after him. Leviathan knew well enough Lucifer would hardly take kindly to having his orders ignored; frankly, though, he didn't care. His point would be made, regardless of consequence. How dare someone assume he could be so easily replaced.
