Have you ever had those days where nothing goes your way? Yeah? Well I bet you haven't had it as bad as me. I got caught skipping class, had to climb out of a bathroom window, killed a few people, and became a fugitive. All before bedtime. Beat that. Actually no, don't - that would be bad. But anyway.

It started on a fairly mundane day, I dressed casually, planning on skipping my noon linguistics class until I got caught by my tutor finding me in the library with my music and my girlfriend. Then it started going downhill. My 2pm break was now occupied by my linguistics tutor - she'd been watching me like a hawk so that I couldn't skip out early, and to top it off, my girl decided she'd rather hang with her girls than me that night. Charming. So, naturally, as soon as I got home it was a cue for me to eat, sulk and shower.

Although, my parents were acting... strange. They had been staring at me weirdly ever since I entered the house, as if they were waiting for something to happen to me. I ignored them for the most part, but couldn't help but notice the hushed whispers coming from the living room as I scrounged the kitchen for signs of edible food. I knew they were talking about me, but I couldn't make out any details, so I shrugged it off and grabbed a stale pasty from the fridge, internally cursing myself for not detouring to the chinese takeaway place on the way home. I didn't stop to attempt to decipher any of their secrecy, instead I simply made my way upstairs to eat, shower and shave. Bad move, Adam.

Half way through my shower - which was awesome by the way, thanks for asking - I heard a scream which was unmistakably my Mothers. I paused for a few moments trying to strain my ears through the sounds of the shower, but to no avail. I wasn't worried at first, assuming she'd just found something stupid scary, like finding a mouse in the kitchen or some other ridiculous crap. But when I heard some other unfamiliar gruff, demanding shouts from downstairs, I began to worry. I stepped out of the shower without turning it off and opened the door a crack.

"Mom?" I shouted down the stairs, and was greeted by my Mom screeching at me.

"ADAM, DON'T YOU DARE COME DOWN OR TH-"

She fell silent, and I panicked, slamming the bathroom door shut and locking it, my heart pounding in my chest. Not really having much time to collect myself, I took a few deep breaths, then hurriedly dried myself off, eternally glad that I took my clothes into the bathroom with me out of habit. As I clumsily pulled my clothes on, my mind raced as I tried to think what the hell was going on downstairs, and what I was supposed to do. I didn't want to take any chances with anything so I kept the shower on, hopefully to muffle my movements if only a little, then got hit with a brainwave as my eyes passed over the bathroom window, which was conveniently placed a few inches away from the balcony to my room. I slid the window open and precariously positioned myself on the ledge, thankful I hadn't skipped out on my gymnastics classes as a kid.

This is a WIP ♥️
