Ancient lore and dragon tail sing praises of a beast. She sits upon jagged cave maw and plays guard to the only pass through a great and terrifying mountain, thick feline flank mapped out with many a strange marking. The locals from the small broken village at the base of the great crag spin her legend to what few travelers pass through and dare sit through the tale.

It is said that long ago the Gods became angry at the people under the mountain. Their stomachs were full and tankards always wet, but they had refused to pay proper tribute to their creators. So it was that each day they made their way through the mountain to sell and trade their goods, and each day returned by cover of night and blanket of stars, with song on their tongue and lights in their eyes. This the gods took note of.

The God of all fine Art, whose name is said to be Tou, was given the task of creating a beast that would both awe and frighten the townspeople into proper worship. The God, who loved humans dearly though they were spiteful beings, set forth in creating the pawn. From the pelt of the feline God he made a body, and covered it in the story of man. Bright colors painted what Past, Present, and Future would hold for the race, and to look at her fur would bring wonder and a broken heart.

For her hair he took the golden scaled snakes of the River Euphrates and laid them to rest, their enchanting symphony of fork-tongues whispers that would reverberate from the mountain paths’ walls and instill in the humans heart a sharp terror that would have them flee.

And last, for her tail, he gave the great serpent Hirossi, who reminded all that chanced a glance at her that it was never wise to try and tiptoe past a sleeping beast.

When this creature, whose name would be Tattoo, finally made her home in the honeycomb of caves of the mountain, and each night gave a great and terrible roar towards the heavens, the people of the village laid their meals to the Gods, so that they would be protected from the mountain dweller.
