I was out on a treasure hunt with Zenith and the gang. We were trying to find the fabled Omen Islands, and had finally obtained all the pieces of the map from various people around the world. After traveling hundreds of miles on the stormy sea, we finally started to see land that we had never seen before. When we finally landed on the mysterious island, Haibaneren, my um friend, and I decided to scout the surrounding area first. After receiving numerous comments to be careful and to come back if anything seemed wrong, we started our little journey. Being the male, Haibaneren insisted on leading the way. We went into the dense jungle never to return to our previous selves again. We were starting to tire and we realized that we were quite thirsty. Luckily, I thought, we found a beautiful lake. Deciding to cool down, Haibaneren and I jumped into the lake. Out of nowhere, I felt a powerful tug, and went down, down, down, into the watery abyss. I was sure I was going to drown. My memory flashed by me and I regretted not telling Haibaneren about my feelings for him. Then, I opened my eyes. What I saw was staggering. I had been pulled in by Merana, a vengeful, fallen goddess only spoken about in myths. Oddly, though, she didn't look like the terrible witch depicted in the pictures I had seen. Her physical appearance was rather frightening but her eyes showed sadness and longing. I then realized that I was running out of air. Suddenly, she put her hands together and began reciting some bizarre incantation. As I turned to look for Haibaneren, there was a blinding flash of light. When I was able to see again, I couldn't believe my eyes. Haibaneren had turned Hydrus, beings that were known to be the watery slaves of Merana. Though shocked, I realized that I wasn't gasping for air anymore. I looked down at myself to realize I had turned into a Hydrus as well. After I got past the initial shock, Haibaneren and I spoke with Merana, who had been waiting for us to calm down. We learned that all of the myths revolving around Merana had been twisted from the truth. She then told us why she had taken us and changed us into Hydruses. She pleaded us to help her recount her side of the story to all of Subeta. We were moved by her entreaties and agreed to help her. Merana then also told us that Hydruses are not creatures enslaved by her to do her bidding, but that we are free creatures who are only blessed with the power of the sea. Equipped with new knowledge and a new goal, Haibaneren and I bid Merana goodbye, never to see her again. When we returned to our family, we told them all about the secrets of the island and of Merana. Although they were stunned at first, they listened to our tale and agreed to add spreading Merana's story to our list of goals on our travels. Finding we could not destroy the sanctity of the "Omen" Islands, a name inappropriate for this sacred land, we packed our belongings and sailed away to continue our voyage. Will you listen to our story?
