Hello, hello, Young Traveler. Welcome to the land of the ancients, the one place where I have lived for as long as I can remember.

Come forward and sit here, relax. I am certain that such a long journey has left you completely defeated, no? Hinata will fix you a place to stay for the night and Malaika will make us some tea... Although I wouldn't drink it, if I were you. Who knows what she would put into it? That sneaky little Octopuss...

I typically would ask someone where they have come from themselves... What journeys and encounters they have braved, how many monsters they have murdered with their own teeth, claws, or tusks... But you are very quiet... One who is quiet is one who is taking things in, building onto their bank of knowledge, no? That sounds remarkably of the younger me.

I would be happy to tell you of my story, if you'd like. It's a rare occasion, I don't just tell everyone about my past and what it has taken to be an Oracle. To be wise, trustworthy, a compassionate healer who welcomes one into his own abode? Make yourself comfortable, this is bound to be a very long story.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It all began when I was younger. I was raised as a normal Chai, positive parental relationship intact. My parents are still alive and well, actually. Well, my mother's hearing is a little less than perfect, and my father appears to be putting on more weight every day... But other than that, my relationship with them is completely positive and normal. They were the ones who exposed me to the village mystics when I was just a cub, when I was still being taught to fish and swim.
I apprenticed with the mystics, in secret, while my parents slept in the night. I was exposed to very little sleep when I was younger, and this resulted in me sleeping an awful lot during the day. But it was worth it, because I gained the abilities to heal the sick and injured, and the wisdom of all the mystics combined. When they decided I had learned everything they had to teach me, they sent me out on a permanent quest. They warned me that I would never be able to see my parents again, face to face. To never know what it was to feel the touch of their fur again... For you see, to be someone like me, it is technically the most proper to live alone... But I'm a monophobe, and living alone for me would greatly decrease the likelihood of me getting anything done, or carrying on my duties. You understand?
Hinata is somewhat of my apprentice, you could say. I met her on the riverbank near here when I decided it was where I would stay to carry out my Oracle duties. She doesn't spend much time here, though... Not nearly as much as she used to when she was a child... Back when she was ready to learn, and wasn't just chock full of attitude. Now I'm lucky to get her to set up a sleeping quarters for weary travelers.
Malaika is an Octopuss I found in the river at the same time as Hinata... Neither of them knew of the other very well, but they had survived together for some large span of time. She lurks in my garden, although I must say, it is a hassle to find her and kick her out when I meditate.
That old, cracked crystal ball in the back of this cavern is the only way for me to check in with my parents and make sure that they are surviving, since I never officially said "good-bye" to them... I said I was going out for a swim, and I never returned. They were heartbroken, but your destiny takes priority over your feelings. Fulfilling your purpose in the world is very much more important than caring about what others have to say about it... My parents never would have let me do what had to be done. Ignorance is bliss. At least they believe I am dead, while I sit here and watch over them.
I never stop learning, even now. Travelers often give me books to read when they come here... But they are never any good and they do very little to raise my IQ... But I appreciate the thought, even so.
Now that I have bored you to a pulp, I suppose you should get some rest or descend to the food storages to find yourself something to snack on... Or perhaps leave, if you just wanted some company or something... Good luck, fair traveler. I wish you perfect safety... And stay away from that misty forest over there. A Malticorn with a terrible attitude lives over there, and I doubt she would spare your life if you aggrivated her.
