Five years ago, Luka's life as a normal culinary student changed forever when the apocalypse occurred, throwing society as he knew it into chaos. Suddenly, instead of residing in a lofty dorm at the center of the city, he, his little sister, and his best friend were vagrants on the run from violence, destruction, and giant, man-eating monsters. Traumatic experiences occurred on a daily basis, and he came close to losing his life on several occasions. The apocalypse scarred him deeply and personally, and to this day, he refuses to talk about the memories that bring tears to his eyes.

Yet, though he bears a weight no one should have to carry, he keeps his ghosts to himself; instead, he lifts his head high, for his spirit persevered, and he knows that his friends depend on his lighthearted and humorous nature. Positive to a fault, he's somehow always able to crack a joke during the darkest of moments, and he lives for the moments where he can make other people smile. Despite only having a few pieces of clothing and small mementos to his name, he still wakes up with a go-get-'em attitude, ready to face whatever crazy new problem the post-apocalyptic world throws at him.

Which is saying something, because, boy, does the post-apocalyptic world throw some crazy problems at him. Though Luka's main goal is to find his now missing sister (who vanished under mysterious circumstances a year ago), he currently has a more pressing issue: he rescued a girl who fell from the sky and claims to be from another world. Oh, and she was being chased by some random guy who can apparently travel through wormholes, which means that this random guy is now chasing after Luka, too. Plus, his best friend developed an instinctual need for them to travel to the center of the world, so now they need to do THAT on top of everything else.

There's way too many questions, and way too few answers for Luka's liking. If there truly are multiple worlds out there, how come he had never heard of them before? Why did multidimensional travel seem nonexistent until after his world's apocalypse happened? What's going on with his best friend, and why does she seem connected to all of this? Where the heck is his sister?!

Thankfully, Luka knows there's only one way to unravel the mysteries of the world, and he'll stop at nothing to get the answers that he seeks. A wild journey, full of intrigue, heartache, and pain, lies ahead of him and his friends, leading them into the great unknown. He can only hope that he has the heart to tackle this next adventure, too.
