Peregrim is a young explorer/archaeologist that is following a legend about the king and queen that got involved in the war of the gods. As he burrows his way into the buried palace, he discovers the ancient tale. However, there is no end, so he can only assume that Ini-Herit either was the victor, or that Hoobark decided to have mercy on the world.

Day 1

The funeral was today. My professor. He lost his battle a few days ago, but before he went he told me...

He told me his life story, essentially. He asked if I would finish what he began. To be honest, I don't know if I believe his ideas, but I owe him this much. He pulled me out of the gutters and turned me into someone with a future. He told me I was smart, and made me believe it. I will do this. Besides...I already have a hunch where I can start.

Day 58

I think I'm on to something. My professor was right when he said the answers were all under our noses. Now all I need is funding...I'll go myself with just a shovel and few friends if I have to, but I am not letting this opportunity pass me by.

Day 188

My sponsor is a shady fellow, no doubt only out for his own game. But I can't complain. Not many people would be willing to dish out the big bucks to an upstart following a hunch he picked up from a college professor that was suffering from Alzheimer's at the time. He trusted me with everything before he lost his memory forever. I won't fail him.

Day 400

Everyone is restless. Who can blame them? We've been digging for almost a year, and all we have to show for it is some broken pieces of pottery. There's an ancient city out here, and, more importantly...a palace. I can feel it. There are pictures on the pieces that renew my hope every time I find more. People have decided that it was all just a fantasy, but I know better. There has to be something out here.

Day 436

We've done it! Pillars! There is a city here! Finally my colleagues are digging with renewed vigor. My sponsor seems to have taken on a new wave of energy as well. He actually picked up a shovel himself this morning. That didn't last long, however, due to his inexperience. It almost seems that he is more excited than myself. I wonder just why he decided to fund my project anyway?

Day 500

I have deciphered the text on the outer-most columns of the city, and my beliefs are indeed true! This is the lost city of King Atumhoteph. The palace can't be too far. It's just so hard to believe that the entire place was buried in sand for over five thousand years and no one ever noticed...

Day 1595

Three years. I've been out here, shoveling sand out of the way for three long years, and finally my labors are paying off. Tomorrow we enter the temple of Ini-Herit. Soon, but not soon enough, we will be exploring the lost palace. Oh, great king, your story will finally be told.

Day 1600

I would have thought that my sponsor would be one of the first to enter. He spent the three years in this country with us. Granted he never touched a shovel, but he was just as excited at the rest of us. Maybe more so. I could easily compare his actions these last few days as a ravenous wolf, finding it's first meal in weeks. It was almost frightening, really. But enough about him.

Today we entered the temple. Ini-Herit's temple! I have waited too long for this. To walk up and kneel at the feet of this great god of the ancients. I know my professor would have given anything to see it...If he had only known how close he was. But the disease was too ravenous. I am proud to carry on in his name.

Day 1650

It has been nearly two months time since we crawled through the window in the temple. Tonight we have found a way in to the palace. Of course all of my workers are asleep now. We've been digging in non-stop shifts for a few days now. But how can I sleep? As soon as the sun rises, I will lead the greatest excavation in decades. The lost city of Pharaoh Atumhotep.

Day 1651

I mentioned that I couldn't sleep earlier. I am awake again, and the night has not passed. This could probably be considered a continuation of yesterday's entry, but midnight has passed.

I heard a noise outside just now. It was in the direction of the dig. I'm going to go check it out.

Day 1652

Later pieces: "Oh great king, what have you done?"
