Far up in someone's closet dwells a little plush-toy named Plaid. Made in reference to the chibi paralix, he's just as cute as the breathing version. However, as time goes on, children tire of their old toys and toss them aside, regardless of how cute they may be. When that time comes, they're doomed to be forever forgotten, lost among the stockpile of abandoned paraphernalia.

Plaid, however, refused to give into the self-pity that attempted to settle in. Instead, he spends his days collecting various other objects that his owner has banished to the depths of the closet, hoping to one day give them purpose again. He quite enjoys his job of seeking and collecting, even if there was no one around to see the results but him.

Loneliness aside, life in the closet was painfully uneventful; that is, until the moths come along. Not only are they attracted to him, but they also quite fancy his hoard of plaid-patterned clothing (his owner was lacking in fashion sense) and he constantly finds himself swatting them away, although they always manage to take tiny nibbles here and there.

Eventually the moths tire themselves out and call it quits - except for one particularly persistent acerbus. It seemed like no matter how quickly Plaid pounced or how menacingly he growled, this one moth just would not leave him alone. The mere thought of this lowly bug consuming his collection bit by bit drove him near mad, so he decided to go down another route: compromise.

One evening, when his fluttery rival was in the midst of making his usual round of feasting, Plaid said to him, "If you promise to keep me company, you can have some of my belongings." He loved his collection dearly, but he would love it that much more had he someone to share it with. The moth took but a moment to consider the thought before agreeing, and so it was settled.

Of course, the other moths still stopped by from time to time in hopes of a snack, but they were always much easier to ward off, especially now that he had some help. Oddly enough, the bug who Plaid once considered to be the biggest of pests was now more kindly referred to as Luther, and truth be told Plaid never felt quite so lonely again.
