Sister Auphelia, Recorder of Redwall Abbey, sat in her scribing room - a small, narrow space with a writing desk squeezed in, and a singular window above, where the late afternoon sun shone through. The latest adventure for their Abbey had concluded not so long ago, and she was determined to talk to the animals most involved. After organizing maps, notes, and interviewing various creatures, Auphelia had to take a moment of solace. The old mouse was expecting a visitor, one who always showed up around this time. As if summoned, there was a polite knock at the door.

"Mmmm, who might that be?" She hummed, whiskers still an inch from the parchment. As the door opened, she caught a whiff of some chestnut soup with new cheese and oatfarl bread, knowing instantly who brought her an early supper.

"Broddham, I swear, if you hadn't come to this Abbey, I wouldn't eat a thing." Auphelia rose from her work and turned around in the wheeled chair, smiling at the large squirrel holding a tray of food. "Thank you, really."

A band of former slaves had come from a place far beyond even The Southlands - The Sandlands, ruled by one wildcat queen, who had been mad with grief at the kidnapping of her youngest child. What followed was bartering, warfare, the guidance of Martin the Warrior, and a triumphant end where said child freed not only herself, but her family's captives, Broddham among them.

He nodded once, shyly. "'Tis an honor, marm. Brother Wylot just finished showing me t'great bells -" Broddham stopped, thinking. Auphelia was sure he was remembering the names and waited for him to finish - "Matthias and Methuselah."

"Perfect!" Auphelia wiped her paws on her habit. "I suppose you're back for another bit of history, and so you shall have it. Yesterday, we finished the trials of Bragoon and Sarobando in their quest to help little Martha by travelling to the ruins of Redwall's predecessor of..." She left the sentence hanging in the air.

She nodded. "Where to go from here? The pink Pearls of Lutra? The Doomwytes and the Lost Tribe of one of the Abbey's Founders? The dynasty of magical Marlfoxes? Or how the Greeneyes castle of Kotir almost rose again to destroy our Abbey?"

Broddham's eyes widened. "The wildcat castle? Why, how'd that happen?"

Auphelia turned back to the stack of old ledgers she had brought down, stories of the greatest triumphs - and sometimes losses - of Redwall Abbey throughout its long seasons.
"Remember the watery siege when Martin and the Freedom Fighters were bringing Kotir down from the inside, as it still stood, a monument to the enslavement of Mossflower?" She ran a claw across them, looking specifically for -

"Erm...yes, indeed I do."

"Well, our South Wall ended up being right above that flooded dungeon - Here we are -" She plucked out a stack of pages in a purple cover. "Good old Cracklyn - and that dungeon ended up sinking our wall! And warbeasts were just around the corner..." With a sip of water, Auphelia began to tell the tale of the Greeneyes treasure, Rapscallions from the North, and The Long Patrol.
