Kanjor had always heard the call of the sea, even when he was a young boy. He would spend hours at the dock in his small village and watch as the ships came in and out. Talking to the sailors was his favorite past-time. They would tell him exciting stories of sea monsters and mermaids they came across. Most of them were just fish stories to keep his listeners happy but Kanjor loved to hear them just the same.

One day Kanjor stole away from his home, the call of the sea too strong, and joined a ship crew as a cabinboy. Unknown to Kanjor, it was a pirate ship. It wasn't exactly what Kanjor had expected but it was adventure and everyday was something new.

After many, many long years of being on someone else's ship, Kanjor could finally afford a ship of his own. His dreams of adventure grew larger. He had grown close to his old Captain and had learned much. Soon Kanjor created the Black Sun crew and vowed gold and adventure.

One day, a trio of mermaid witches sunk Kanjor ship. Through magic, Kanjor and his crew were able to breathe and talk under the water. The trio of witches told Kanjor and someone on his ship had something that they wanted. An old crew member named Mossbeard, who had been a pirate captain a long time ago, had stolen ancient artifacts from the witches and they wanted them back. Because Kanjor was his captain, the witches told Kanjor that he had to get their artifacts back or his ship and crew would be lost in the depths of the ocean forever.

When Kanjor woke up, he was on a beach somewhere unknown. A small dingy had been left on the shore. That was where he had met a small fearie named Seraphim. It took a while for him to accept the fact that fearies actually existed but he talked her into coming with him as he left the island.

While he likes having his fearie company, he worries about the witches because they vowed not to let him have any crew until he found their artifacts. Now he is doomed to search every part of the world until he finds them and the only person who knows where they are, has been prisoned by the witches.
