and i will protect you with my dying breath

He grew up in a tough family, there was never enough food to go around, never filling those hungry stomaches. Three elder brothers had the first shares, right out of the pot while he the youngest took the leftovers. Of course if his mother was still around then no doubt this wouldn't be happening but a disease stole her away before his youngest sister had even turned one. After that his father was even more unstable. The bottles would pile up in the smithery, not near the door or anywhere insight-or how else would he get his costumers? Quietly summers went by like a breeze and winters to them was just a quick snowfall. Everything had it's own order, it was nothing more then daily routine.
His mother had named him Gale, at the time a rather unusual name at the time especially since his mother was Bosnian. He spoke her tongue as well as some English. His mother was always sweeter to him then his brothers, to an extent Gale would be a mommy's boy, he followed her around everywhere. Therefore out of the five kids in his family he was the only one who could speak the Bosnian language though he was also the only one who could only speak a bit of English. When his mother passed away Gale was at the tender age of eight, just about to choose his way in life. The passing of his mother gave him great sorrow and rebellion amongst his siblings. Ultimately his rebellious spirit was cut down when his father in a drunken rage slashed a sword down on his forearm, leaving a scar that would follow him for the rest of his live. On his birthday, pronouncing him eleven years old, the family celebrated, Gale was to be accepted into the castle for "special duty". Just before Gale set foot outside his home, his father ran up to give him his parting gift, a dagger from his mother with light blue gems encrusted on the hilt and the sheath. It was the last thing he received from his family.
For eight years he trained to be an assassin, for his country he would do anything, but little did he realize his soft personality was rapidly erased, then taken over by a harsh stoic one. His ability to charm people with a boyish smile diminished but now he could kill someone in over a hundred ways. Gale was no longer the mommy's boy his family once knew. When the sun arose the day before he turned eighteen, news that his old village had been burned, his family dead, no signs of sorrow was plastered on his handsome face. Gale nodded once, and that was the end of his ties with family. Perhaps these years has been harsh, his commanders refused to see any emotions in their faces, the punishment would have been ten whips and no dinner. Gale had been whipped countless times over these years, but now that he has become a man no emotions showed in his grey eyes.
His job was to kill, good guys or bad guys, they were all the same to him. They were all people, but they weren't just normal people, they were targets. He hadn't started killing for a while before his commander chose him for a special side job. A noble family gave the kingdom a handsome offer, their daughter, Gabriella needed protection. One of her suitors from France was rejected by Lady Gabriella and so he offered a deal on the black markets for her head. The kingdom offered one special assassin to protect her, Gale was especially selected due to the fact that he had no emotions left. When Gabriella first met Gale, it was attraction, not just mental attraction but immediate physical attraction. Gale stood at 1.83 m tall, lean but muscular at the same time. The way he stood reminded her of her Egyptian friends large cat she had once saw, cheetah it was called. His stance was light, soft yet readied to pounce. His brown hair fell slightly into his eyes, fierce grey eyes stared right back into hers. It pulled a gasp right out of her throat, embarrassed she covered it up with a cough.
"Lady Gabriella, I am Gale." he told her, his voice lacked emotion but made up for it with the huskiness he failed to hide.
She replied with a curt nod, and turned back back on him, hiding her grin. Their routine had been simple,at first even shy. Thought he was to be station to be right next to her at all times, sleeping outside of her room even, she refused to let him into her bedroom at first, but resistance was futile. She couldn't slam the door in his face after the first few days, and so she let him into her life. Though he was allowed to now sleep inside her room, catching glimpses of her sleepwear, he never showed a change of face. By this time Gale had seen the anatomy of a woman, it didn't change his attitude towards his job. He wasn't going to let her change the course of life he had picked out for himself. Soon she no longer showed any signs of shyness around him, the only place she didn't let him accompany her was her washroom. With protecting Gabriella, Gale never lost any excitement, killers came from all across Europe to claim her head for their own. She never questioned his words, never once disobeyed him.
Little openings gave Gabriella a chance to really get to know Gale, times when he hasn't slept for a day or two, he'd feel any movement around him while asleep however after three days of no slumber he'd be dead out as a log at the least for two hours. She'd sit across from him, normally in the garden. She'd carefully brush his bangs out of his face. When it was just shy of three months she worked up her courage to kiss him, gently on the cheek. What she didn't intend to happen was Gale waking up. She calculated a perfect moment where nobody would see them. But the two hour mark had passed, as she leaned up her cheeks flaming red, his eyes opened. His head twisted towards her as he blinked, the sunlight harsh on his drowsy eyes, their lips met. Once his eyes adjusted to the lights, he realized it was the lady whom pressed her lips against him. Jumping away, his eyes bore into hers, with the first time ever surprise filled in those irises.
"l-lady Gabriella?" he gasped out, his rough voice abandoned.
"I'm so sorry!"'she blurted out, her hands picking up her dress, she ran out of the garden.
It was the start to their relationship, a bomb that was destined to be detonated in his words. She never knew he thought she was beautiful, not in look-wise but the way she acted with her simple grace gave his emotionless soul a shiver of curiosity. He never dared to probe at it until she kissed him. Later that afternoon after he caught up with her, his eyes betrayed no emotion or how he was feeling. He simply asked her the one word she never wanted to answer.
"Why?" his voice husky. His eyes looked darker in the vacant hallway.
"Gale," she breathed out his name without thinking. Fear rang through her veins for she knew that the three words she was about to tell him may be the biggest thing in her seventeen years of life. A disappointment no doubt, he would probably look at her like she was crazy, insane for such an absurd thought. In such a short time she let her heart fly. "I lov-"
He didn't let her finish her words, instead in the dark hallway, he rammed her against the brick wall. The blow knocked the wind out of her tiny frame, yet in a way it gave her a surge of adrenaline. What came next surprised her the most, he leaned in and kissed her deeply. Gale never had much experience with women, but his combat friends did. They taught Gale, laughing at him with crude jokes until Gale joined in with them, his voice low and without humor normally. And so, Gale's kiss was inexperienced however he made up for it with his rough need for contact with his lady.
"Never." his every word heavy with rage or lust, she couldn't tell. "Are you to say those words to me. Never Gabriella." Grey eyes stared back into her own, and she realized for a moment, perhaps this man in her world isn't as emotionless as she once thought.
