You should have acted.
They're already here.
The Elder Scrolls told of their return.
Their defeat was merely delay
Til the time after Oblivion opened,
When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood.
But no-one wanted to believe.
Believe they even existed.
And when the truth finally dawns:
It dawns in fire.
But,
There's one they fear.
In their tongue, he's Dovahkiin:
Dragon Born!

Dragonborn Dragonborn
By his honor is sworn
To keep evil forever at bay
And the fiercest foes rout
When they hear triumph's shout
Dragonborn for your blessing we pray
And the scrolls have fortold
Of black wings in the cold
That when brothers wage war come unfurled
Alduin bane of kings
Ancient shadow unbound
With a hunger to swallow the world

Skyrim is the northernmost province of Tamriel, and is a cold and mountainous region. Although it is one of Tamriel's less hospitable provinces, it has been home to both elven and human civilization since time immemorial. It is currently inhabited by the human race of Nords. The Aldmer and Falmer occupied Skyrim until the late Merethic, when the final wave of Nordic immigration, led by Ysgramor, finally drove out the mer.

History
The Aldmer and Falmer occupied Skyrim until the late Merethic Era, when the final wave of Nordic immigration, led by Ysgramor, finally drove them out. Settlers from Atmora crossed the Sea of Ghosts and made landfall here many times, often clashing with those who had already established themselves. They often lived in harmony with the Aldmer, though sometimes clashed. Ysgramor's clan, who dubbed the land "Mereth" after their elven neighbors, expanded their territory, and it continued to expand and contract by winning and losing territories in Morrowind and High Rock. Skyrim eventually weakened and separated into multiple states during the War of Succession, which was instigated by political quarrels following the assassination of King Borgas, the last of Ysgramor's dynasty. It was eventually reunited, although some localities technically remained independent kingdoms. Henceforth the Moot was only convened when and if the High King died without direct heirs, which has occurred four times since. Skyrim engaged in multiple clashes with High Rock over its western Reach, a civil war involving The Wolf Queen of Solitude, an invasion of Cuhlecain's kingdom of Cyrodiil, and wars with Hammerfell and High Rock during the Imperial Simulacrum. Redguards and Bretons are still giving resistance today, as The War of the Bend'r-mahk expanded Skyrim into territory traditionally held by Hammerfell and High Rock. Resistance is mostly encountered in the cities of Jehenna and Elinhir and along the border to those provinces. In 4E 201, the High King was killed, and for the first time since the Pact of Chieftains ended the War of Succession, the Moot could not avert a civil war amongst the Nords.

Geography & Architecture
Skyrim is a wealthy and thus powerful province. Their culture is somewhat influenced by their neighbors, such as Morrowind. The city of Winterhold, rival of Solitude, is near the border, and many refugees and escaped slaves have fled there, bringing Morrowind's culture and ideas to Skyrim's eastern lands and stimulating their economy. However, Hrothgar and Whiterun, once places with powerful economies, have been crippled by natural disasters and attacks from frost trolls and bandits. The area is now under the control of Jsashe, the leader of the local witches coven, and a self-proclaimed priestess of Lorkhan. Four out of the five tallest mountains in Tamriel are found in Skyrim, as is the hardy Ironwood Nut, which grows on Ironwood trees deep in Skyrim's forests.
Most buildings in Skyrim are built partly underground to conserve heat, and are made with stones, with wood used only for support, and roofs of straw above the wood. The Nords are known as masters of lumber construction, and these houses are essential to keep in heat in the freezing climate. Nordic designs are also seen in Bruma and Solstheim.

Economy
Skyrim is a wealthy and powerful province; the county of Solitude has always been one of the richest and most influential regions. Recently, Solitude has grown ever more powerful, controlling much of the northern coastline following King Thian's alliance by marriage with Macalla, the Queen of Dawnstar. It has sought to expand its influence further by annexing several former Imperial fiefs, such as the island of Roscrea, ruled directly by the Emperor since Uriel V conquered it in the 271st year. There are also influences from Morrowind because refugees from Morrowind escape there, bringing new ideas, cultures, and stimulating the economy. In some cities, a citizen becomes a part of the economy by either logging or blacksmithing.
