Synopsis: A brilliant actress who understands nothing of the human heart.

There is a certain 'Je ne sais quoi' about Henriette, even if only because she says so.
You see, Henriette is an actress, and a rather brilliant one, too. With her acting skill - and daddy's money - she's made it, at only age twenty two. She deserves every bit of her fame too. Her admirers, and critics too, swear they've never seen truer tears.
It is because of what she does, and how she does it, that she can afford to be husbandless and yet still lounge about in furs and diamonds, and with a line-up of paramours that finds itself constantly refreshed. She falls in love with each one, loudly and passionately declaring to marry each one, before she finds that she is, in truth, incredibly bored.
Truth is hard to come by, from Henriette, but it isn't because she's a liar. No -- Henriette genuinely doesn't know where the stage ends and life begins. She is so convincing an actress that she herself has been convinced.
This is how it was, at least, until he came along.
She tells herself he hasn't changed things. He - a peasant boy with looks no rarer than a decent pair of shoes, and to her dismay, he is not good enough an actor to trick a baby.
But there is something about him. Something raw.
The word for it, she thinks, might be honest.
Maybe he hasn't changed things, but he's starting to. Slowly, and painfully, Henriette is learning that there is more to compassion than skill. Maybe, just maybe, there is something that does not find its clone in art -- the human heart.
