Skaya was born to a poor family living in an obscure mining town in Eastern Russia on the border of Siberia. It was a difficult time and the suffering of her people attracted the attention of an enraged Lyeshy who sought to wipe all traces of civilization from his territory, no matter how poor and miserable the people were. The precious drinking water and game animals became tainted, spreading an incurable disease. Skaya was six years old at the time when it was apparent that she was the only child who was resistant to the mysterious illness. She was only six, but she resisted possession by the corrupted Lyeshy as well and spoke of a dream about the mysterious sword Palashya trapped under permafrost.

The sword was excavated by a mysterious man who slayed the Lyeshy and freed the people from its wrath. Skaya was then taken from her cold and desolate home to the country of Japan.

It was Kyoto where the young girl spent the rest of her childhood, learning the art of fighting and the nature of demons. As a girl, Skaya impressed her elders with her vigilance and endless energy. However, her vigor frightened many and she was only allowed to wield Palashya after she turned eighteen despite her prowess. It was revealed that the worn sword was one of the few "demon" swords capable of killing the ascended ones. Unfortunately, Skaya allowed Palashya to be stolen by the greater demon Axziel in exchange for the lives of her comrades. As punishment, Skaya was stripped of her rank and sent on the treacherous quest to find another demon sword, the katana named Hebishin no Goyokuna, hidden within one of the rockiest mountains of Japan. The disgraced young woman climbed for miles up the tallest mountain before spending several days within endless tunnels and ancient labyrinths seeking the sword.

Skaya eventually found the rumored sword amongst a graveyard of ancient remains within a hidden cavern. However, it seemed that her efforts were in vain when the steel seemed to have rusted beyond recovery, making the blade useless. To make matters worse, the ancient remains seemed to be the work of the greater demon of the mountain whose mental state had long deteriorated. With only a rusted sword that was already falling apart, Skaya was virtually trapped and helpless. Despite the odds, the young woman was not one for giving up and dying, at the hands of a demon no less. Using her size to her advantage, Hebishin was thrust through the eye of the crazed demon and something miraculous happened.

The sword seemed to flash with glee when the hot blood spilled over the blade and all across the arm of his wielder. The rust vanished from the surface of the blue steel and the ripped silk appeared to knit itself together. The sword flashed a second time and the demon was finished.

The battered slayer left the mountain alive before collapsing with exhaustion, clinging to the sheathless sword covered in black blood. Fortunately for her and the sword, Skaya was discovered and sent back to Kyoto to present her findings to her masters.

The sword himself chose his own master and he appeared to have a rather reckless and violent mind of his own when it was apparent that no other slayer could wield the sword except Skaya herself. Her ruthless fighting style matched the nature of the katana and she was allowed to keep him in her possession with severe caution on behalf of the elders.

With Hebishin, Skaya slayed the greater demon, Rhoederich and cut off the right arm of Axziel to retrieve Palashya. Returning the Russian sword to the branch of Eastern Europe, Skaya restored her full rank and continued to wield her well-deserved katana in its place.

HEBISHIN . NO . GOYOKUNA
"The Voracious Snake God"

Hebishin is capable of transforming into an emerald-colored serpent with cream diamond markings. In his sword form, he has a dark green tsuka with natural-colored sharkskin underneath the wrappings. The tsuba sports a coiled serpent around the edge of the blade. The blade is much longer than average, being close to 30 inches which is not recommended for Skaya's build. However, it should be obvious by now that there is more to the sword than its physical qualities.

Hebishin is one of the twelve known "demon" weapons. The katana lives up to his name well since he delights himself in the presence of demon blood. Hebishin grows stronger and sharper with every demon slain and craves fighting with such frightening ferocity. However, the sword can never be fully satisfied and is very much capable of "starving". During prolonged absences of demon energy, the blade rusts and dulls. As a starving blade, Hebishin is unable to transform nor cut mortal flesh.

In ancient legends, it is said there was once an angry god who could never satisfy his craving for flesh. The people of his domain appeased him so he turned his wrath against the proud demons of his realm, his relentless fury rivaling that of the ascended demons themselves. According to the legend, the sword was fashioned from one of his fangs after his body had long decayed, preserving his eternal voracity within the folded layers of steel.
