Overview
Lord Ignatius Columba Alonzo di Borgares
Queen's Aide, Sorcerer, Healer
Male
25
HAIR: A very red auburn. It's a little past his shoulder and is most easily described as scraggly
EYES: Glow-in-the-dark green. Literally. Their color and luminescence are a byproduct of the magic coursing through his system. He usually disguises them as a muddy brown or darker, more natural green
HEIGHT: 6' 4"
WEIGHT: 155lbs
Notes
-Ignatius is extremely body conscious. He walks with a stoop and slouches so as to appear shorter, and often wears large cloaks to conceal how underweight he is. His hair (which he also isn't fond of) if kept long mostly to hide as much of his face as possible.
-Although he has been forced to practice excessively, he is terrible at fighting of any sort. Although talented at controlling his magic, he possesses very little of it and tires easily. Thus, he's fairly useless in a combat situation.
-Horses don't like him. They are very obvious in their dislike. Ignatius is kind of totally terrified of them because of this
Once Upon a Time...
There once was a little boy, the youngest of four siblings and most likely his mother's illegitimate son given his strange hair color. The little boy was much smaller than his older siblings, and was mercilessly picked on by them. He vowed that one day he would get them to respect him, and in a matter of speaking, he did. At the age of eight, he set fire to his eldest brother and cruelest tormenter with magic none of his other siblings had access to. After this, the older children feared and avoided him, and he was left alone.
Following this incident, the boy's mother took him to her older brother, a man known to also possess this magic. The older man took him in, vowing to make the young boy strong and eventually instill him as his heir. The boy was delighted by the attention and threw everything he had into the training his uncle had set up for him, but despite how hard he tried, he never seemed to be able to fulfill his uncle's expectations in his magical and martial studies. Only in academia did the boy seem to have any talent whatsoever, but for his uncle it wasn't enough. By the time he was thirteen, his uncle had lost almost all interest in him, and the little boy was once again alone.
When the boy was seventeen, trouble began to brew in his uncle's kingdom. After years of suffering under his own uselessness, the boy decided to prove himself by disposing of the threat to his uncle's throne. The awkward, skinny boy grabbed a sword and fled the castle to meet with this threat, but he was surprised to find another boy only a few years older than him, and was equally stunned when he was beaten within an inch of his life with no apparent effort on the others boy's part. Pride smarting almost as much as the various lesions on his body, the boy withdrew only to attack against a few weeks later. He was trounced just as easily as before. This cycle repeated itself for the next year until the boy was finally beaten to unconsciousness right outside of his uncle's throne room. When he awoke, his uncle had been killed and he was forced to flee or else face incarceration.
The boy ran, not stopping until he had made it to the neighboring country of Ruoh, which had been friendly to his uncle. Here he hid and watched as the other boy took over his uncle's kingdom. He hated, and more than that, he envied. The other was getting everything the boy had ever wanted but now could no longer have. So he plotted. He searched out the generals and soldiers who had also escaped, and slowly he began to rebuild his uncle's Black Army. It was a slow and arduous process, but five years later he was nearly ready.
The boy shed his old name and worked magic so as to conceal his identifying feature, his glowing green eyes. The rest of him had changed to the point where he was unrecognizable. He had grown tall and lost his innocent, childish face. The loss of his formerly fairly cushy lifestyle had also left his body haggard and worn, and even more unnaturally thin. It was easy for him to infiltrate the castle and become the King's new advisor. Times were tense, and there were more things to worry about than someone who vaguely resembled a boy fought half a decade ago. It would be easy, so very easy to abuse his new position and take over the country again.
And yet...
Ignatius Blackwell, the pseudonym of Duke Idan of House Borgares, has spent his entire life trying to live up to other people's expectations and failing. As such, he's been more than a little blindsided by the warm reaction he's gotten from the royal family since he got his job as an advisor. He can quite honestly say it's the best he's been treated in his entire life, and as such, he's been having second thoughts about the whole "revenge" business. He would be perfectly happy to live as Ignatius for the rest of his life and the rest of the world would be none the wiser; however, the army he's gotten together doesn't exactly like his change of heart.
