A forlorn wanderer who cannot seem to find happiness anywhere.
He has traveled far and wide, but no matter where he goes he ends up feeling dissatisfied.
One day, he hears tales of a "lost city" in the far north that were built by exiles in the past. However, no one has been able to locate this city, because in order to get there, one must travel through the white forest. Anyone who enters this forest gets their memories stolen, and will either wander lost until they die, or return a blank slate.
His curiosity piqued, he decides to search for this city, despite (or perhaps because) of the warnings that this will not end well for him.
So he sets out, and soon enough he arrives to the white forest. From the outside it is aptly named as this far north, the land is covered in an eternal winter. The inside of the forest is another story, as he appears to have stumbled into a kaleidoscope.
And sure enough, as it's hard not to get lost inside the wonders of these colourful woods and forget all about everything he left behind, it doesn't take long for his memories to get snatched away. One by one. Until...
Suddenly, he feels a pain. This brings him back to reality, and he realizes he has been followed by a moth-like creature that has been feeding on his memories. The moth must have bit into a memory it found most distasteful, and is now writhing on the ground in pain, giving the wanderer the opportunity to catch it inside of a jar.
He now sees that the "kaleidoscope" actually consists of millions of these creatures that inhabits nearly every inch of this forest. And he finds places in the forest that looks more withered, where heaps of dead "moths" covers the corpses of people who never made it out of the forest...
This discovery makes it easier to find his way through the forest, though by the time he is out on the other side, he seems to have no memories left, but he has made notes for himself so he knows he is searching for something. There seems to be nothing awaiting him but a frozen wasteland, but after a harrowing journey, he finds a city by the foot of the mountains that are said to be the last border at the edge of t
The city is walled off, but he is able to make his way inside. The city seems to be abandoned of all life. Once he arrives to the center, a mysterious entity appears before him. The entity tells him he does not belong here, and sends him to a past version of the city that is bustling and alive... yet something about it is off, like there are fragments of the town that are missing. When he returns to the "present time," the entity explains to him that there are bits of pieces of reality that have been displaced due to the timeline being distorted. Huff is one of those pieces that have been long lost, and so the entity believes he is one of the key elements to uncovering and reconstructing the past.
Along the way, however, he is also forced to confront repressed trauma. And the past might not be something he will want to recover. But he is also unable to leave the city. Perhaps the only way out is through death.
