Ashley loved this time of year, when all the lights were presented like little invitations for good will. Their gathered warmth in the winter seemed to give people an optimism that could only be associated with impending revival. However, the holiday redundancy had left him slightly jaded, and thus he was leaving early from the town's annual parade. Clumsily adjusting the shoulder strap that held his worn, leather bag, he made his way through the crowd. Fireworks were just minutes away from launching, and the entire town seemed centered on the square. At this point, leaving busy downtown proved to be nearly impossible, but he'd eventually make it towards the bus stop. The snow crunched beneath his feet and acted as white noise, lulling him to sleep; had it not been for the brisk, December air, he was sure it would have. Instead, he focused on reciting elements on the periodic table: Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon. He even had an accompanying tone to help him remember. He sang to Curium before spotting his transit, jogging and waving his arms to secure they'd stop long enough for him to board. It was with a relieved sigh that he entered the vehicle, fishing for change to pay its toll. The driver eyed him with slight contempt, and so he hurried to a seat near the back. Seated near him were a tired mom, her two children, and a man who continued to mutter profanities despite Ashley's stares. He wasn't yet accustomed to this mode of transportation, but beggars couldn't be choosers. It wasn't long before they neared his neighborhood, and so he casually pulled at the grimy line above, requesting a halt. He flashed a crooked smile before exiting, waving in vain as the bus drove away. He wasn't necessarily in a rush to get home - after all, nobody would be waiting for him - but he walked with a quickened pace nonetheless. After a long day working as the clerk of the only liquor store in town, he had one thing to look forward to: his studies. He couldn't afford an education at this time, but he did have his late older brother's textbooks, and they held plenty of information he'd yet to observe. Today's point of focus would of course be chemistry - his favorite subject. He was sure he'd find the meaning to everything through their formulas and elements. And, if all else failed, he could at least unwind with a bottle of stolen brandy and his acrylic paints.
Name: Ashley L. Sorenson
Gender: male
Age: twenty-one
Nationality: caucasian
Orientation: bisexual
Status: single
Likes: reading, daydreaming, science experiments
Dislikes: confrontation, talking about his past, sour candy
Ashley is a rather passive character. Ashley is the middle child, and -- as cliche as it may sound -- received the least amount of attention between his older brother and younger sister. Due to his fear of confrontation, he appears nonchalant and almost cold when dealing with personal issues. Ashley currently resides in small town miles away from his original home.
