Imagine yourself in a country that technology hadn't made it there yet... At least,, not the technology that we know here. Almost like the concept of Atlantis. Where their power sources are either the crystal clear waters that run through or the minerals they walk on. In the middle of this vast country lies a village like no other. The people here are all very gifted. But only with the birth rites given to them from their ancestors. Some are witches of nature where they can make plants grow at an enormous pace or warlocks that can make dried up streams overflow with the tiniest amount of liquid.
But, in a small house, all alone, lives an unusual young girl who is known as a strange being. Unlike most of the children her age, she hadn't gotten her powers. Most do by the age of 12 and are trained to harness these. Her, young Amberly, hadn't found her. The elders tried everything from forcing her to farm to almost drowning her to see if her powers would emerge... to no avail.
As she hit the ripe age of 18, she woke up, suddenly, surrounded by gemstones. All kinds. Anything from sapphires to opals... even the rare moonstone that was only found in the deepest part of their ponds on a full moon. Not understanding, she called for one of the elders to assess what was going on. No one knew.
As time went on, more and more gems would find their way into her home. Not a single person could explain why this was happening. Not until one of the elders, the oldest, made a horrific suggestion... that Amberly touch one and see what happened. So, when her small hand made contact with an emerald, it moved and disappeared under the earth. With frightened onlookers, Amberly knew what this meant... she had to leave the village.
Why you ask? Their people believed that everyone was equal and that no one should have more or less than anyone else. And with this power, Amberly could easily become rich and overthrow everyone. Of course, being an orphan, she didn't want power. She didn't want wealth. She just wanted a family. But no one would listen.
Within days of the discovery, she was tossed out of the beautiful land on her own. To either find another village that would except her... or make it in the wilds. Knowing none of the villages around theirs would allow her to stay, she found a small, hidden pond on the other side of the border and made a home. Her home. A place where no one could kick her out of.
A full year went by and she found herself taking small trips across the border to a small cave she had discovered. And, just in case someone was patrolling, she had carefully hidden it with leaves and twigs.
This cave contained some of the most pure, most beautiful gems she had ever seen. The diamonds where as clear as pure water. The sapphires all shone in multiply colors as she walked by, almost twinkling their hellos.
They were her favorite, the sapphires. Especially the blue ones. As she made her way to a gathering of them, she would hum a small tune that she had come up with that would allow the gems to grow large and beautiful.
Choosing a few gems, she carefully chipped off some and stored them in a small jar at her waist. The jar was made from crystal and she knew it wouldn't hurt the little ones. Making sure no one was around, she scampered back to her little hut and to the pond. Kneeling, she placed the chips into the cool water to mature. Glancing, she picked up every individual chip that had been soaking for a while and examined them. If she was satisfied, she would carefully take them into her hut and put them into small ice cube trays to mature even more.
One night, she had just put a rather clear looking sapphire, emerald and ruby into a small pod by themselves and went to bed, satisfied with her work for the day. But the next morning, she woke to find something much more in her room than just her gemstones. As she walked into the living room to check on her daily charges only to run into 3 very beautiful... and naked... men staring at her and calling her mistress... All three of them had the same colorings as her gems she had been growing in the boxes... It couldn't be.... Could it?
