It was thanks to her cat, Media, that she came to know Adam. The fearless cat would wander over to her werewolf neighbors yard and he would return the feline making empty threats about skinning the animal. The alpha wolf never scared or intimidated Mercy, though he tried, she just found his anger amusing. Having been raised by the Marrok, an alpha that controls all other alpha's within a country, she was used to domineering males. Plus she had a few tricks up her sleeve.

Not without her own advantages in a fight, she was a walker, able to take the form of a coyote at will and not forced to change on the full moon like werewolves. There were a few more perks, like her super sensitive hearing and sense of smell, her ability to see ghosts and an immunity to most magic. The drawbacks...? It was hard to keep clothes because they always get shredded during the shift to coyote and like, Tigger, she was the only one, the only walker. Her father had been killed in a car accident before her mother had known that she was even pregnant, so there was no one to help her learn about walkers. Her kind had been hunted down and killed off by vampires, because walkers posed the biggest threat to the bloodsuckers.

Not all vampires were trying to kill her though. Stephan was pretty trustworthy vamp, even though he thought he was shaggy from Scooby-Doo. He even had a Volkswagen van painted like the Mystery Machine and Mercy had bought him a life-size plush of Scooby to stick in the front seat. His quirky humor and his major crush on Mercy was enough to keep him from getting in trouble, though he was always hanging out at the shop.

Mercy had moved to Tri-Cities to get away from her mother and to become a history teacher, but her attitude kept her from getting the job. So she had looked else where and got hired to work as a mechanic in a VW shop by Zee, an iron fae who uses glamour to appear human. Even though some werewolves and fae had revealed themselves to the public - like Adam - others still hid themselves because people really don't want to know what monsters hide behind human masks.

Along the way she finds a fae walking stick with special properties and it follows her around, appearing at random or when she needs it most. Her first love, Samuel, comes to town and her introduction into Adam's pack is a lot harder than predicted. But like all the Indian tales of the coyote, disaster and trouble followed Mercy everywhere she goes. Battles with werewolves, vampires, ghosts, fae and ancient river monsters are a normal occurrence, but with the help of Adam, Stephan, Zee and a few other men from her past nothing is impossible.
