Simply a shadow they say. A 'nothing' they say, with no face or name. Only the dark silhouette on the ground of a somebody. Somebody, one with a name and face. The thing every shadow wants, even a name was better then being unknown. I was only the shadow of a young girl, a somebody even if she was the silent shy type. Though one day, don't ask me why, she started to talk with me. A nobody, a faceless and nameless shadow. She just talked about her life, her school, anything and everything she wanted to talk about left her lips. Even if we shadows don't talk back, she would everyday without a missing beat ask how I was. Time passed as the young girl turned into a young woman, still the shy girl I was with from the start. Though our talks were less but she made up for it with length, talking about months of events told from her eyes. And without fail, she would ask "How are you today?" getting the silent response.This changed by her adding one word to the same question, "How are you today, Alex?" a name. She gave a name to me, a faceless shadow. Never in my time as a nobody did a human give their shadows names, well, without losing their mind first. Even though I couldn't show my joy or how grateful I was for that, she smiled and continued on the conversation. 'Alex, Alex, Alex,' I repeated over and over again. I never want to forget, never would I let the one thing we wish for to disappear. I maybe faceless but I am no longer nameless.
