The Alpha Wolf

Don't call me Jacques, I am not who I was. Now I'm just a creation that went wrong. I am only the Experiment 91.

The Recording

This excerpt was taken from a recording, there were some words impossible to understand and which were written in the way that this author thought fit best.

Day 1

We took some more animals for our experiments. Among them is one that intrigues me most, it's a black wolf, male. He arrived here with a gold necklace with a stone in the middle, round, large and white. I had never seen a necklace like this, let alone with a wolf. So I decide to leave it with me.

This wolf was numbered as Experiment 91. He spends all of his time lying in his cell, just looking at people as if he has something to say to them. As if he could understand everything and think like a human.

I applied to take care of the experiments of the number 0 to number 100, just to keep an eye on this wolf.

Day 10

We're doing some tests with animals. The number of experiments 77, 79 and 87 eventually died. Some experiments show fur discoloration and others showed the growth of extra limbs that resemble wings. Experiment 91 indeed.

Day 42

We continue with the tests. Five more experiments died. Some survivors of the experiments showed too much aggression. Experiment 91 is included in them.

I noticed this strange intensity in the look of other experiments beyond Experiment 91. Are they are becoming more intelligent? Tests didn't show any difference.

*The sound of somebody calling for the scientist is heard. The recorder turns off.*

Day 42 - Continuation

They called me to inform about what happened to one of the employees feeding the experiments with that strange behavior change. He got one of his fingers stuck in the door of the cell of this experiment and he started to bleed. The experiment attacked him and sucked the blood of all his body, killing he. The experiment almost run away.

It looks like we create true vampires. Perhaps these tests are going too far.

Day 45

After the incident of three days ago, all the experiments are fed by a machine. Practically all experiments for whom I am responsible had acquired a taste for blood and are being fed with this and raw meat.

Whenever somebody is coming close to Experiment 91 he stops everything he's doing and look at the person. Today he was eating and I passed close to his cell. He stoped to eat and stared at me. After some time, Experiment 91 caught his food, pure blood, and made a drawing of the necklace we found with him in his first day here. I got a little scared with this and I left.

I commented of Experiment 91 with some colleagues of mine, they had spoken of that intensity in the experiments eyes. They said it was normal in all of them. I didn't dare to talk about the necklace's episode with 91.

One of my colleagues, the person in charge for the experiments of the number 550 to the number 700, told that he had nightmares with one of his experiments. I am worried about what these experiments can do.

Day 74

Many of my colleagues have been scared with the results of the experiments. Some experiments had died, and some almost ran away from its cells a lot of times.

Rumors run that soon they will close this laboratory and they will lock up the research. If this doesn't occur soon, I will abandon this dammed resercher.

*Noises follow. We can hear the scientist standing up, soon followed by the sound of steps. After some moments the sound of steps come back and with the sound of someone sitting in a chair.*

I caught the 91's necklace, it's a really pretty necklace. I was thinking of returning it to the wolf, perhaps he needs it for something.

The door of my room is in front of his cell, I think if I take some more steps I'll see him.

*Noises follow again, this time looks like flesh agaisnt metal.*

Experiment 91 looks like headbutting his cell, it looks like he wanst to knock the door down it. I hope he can't do it, I fear for what he will do to me.

*Noises of glass breaking and running is heard*

Oh my God, he escaped! God help me!

*Noises of barks, snarls and screams are heard*

After this the recording continues, but it only noises are heard.

The Biography

Jacques Wolf was born in Recife, capital of Pernambuco, Brazil. He came very early to France. He has green eyes and black hair, also tan skin and a seductive smile. His mother died early, when he lived in Brazil. Because of it, he was raised almost exclusively by his father. He always was the best friend of his younger sister, Melanie (or Dasmel, as he usually called her), helping to raise her. Even if they are only one year apart.

With his beauty and warmth, everyone loved him. Jacques was extremely popular at his school, always trying to take his sister to the same way. Despite all girls falling in love with him, he was never interested in a girlfriend, although he always had some little affairs to "maintain his status", as he always said. Everything remained like it until his 17 years, his last year before going to college.

On November 8th, the date of his birthday, he found in the past of his family something that he never imagined to exist. His family descended from a kind of werewolf that doesn't need the moon to turn into a wolf, called Loup de Lune, the Wolves of Luna, the moon Godness. He and his sister turned into two huge wolves in this same night. He had a dark blue fur and she light brown fur. Terrified and breaking some windows along the way, they ran into the forest close to their house.

They found a pack and they explained everything the two needed to know. Writing a note to his father, Jacques went to live with that pack. He begged to his sister Dasmel not go with him, but it was all in vain, and soon both were leaving to live like wolves.

In a short time Jacques showed his vocation to be leader, becoming the alpha wolf of a new pack. Of course he keep Dasmel as his second in command, as the beta wolf. He continued taking care of Dasmel, preventing that anything bad happened to her. They traveled to many different places, eventually choosing a forest in a remote town in Europe to live.

The pack taught him how to hold his powers in a jewel, so he could really live like a wolf. So Jacques just kept the ability to think like a human, locking the rest of his powers in a necklace that he always kept in his neck. This necklace was stuck in a golden chain, and consists of a white and oval stone. Dasmel, first, refused to give up of any of her powers, even temporarily, but soon Jacques convinced her to do the same thing he did.

One day, hunters stepped into the forest, trying to capture wolves. As the alpha of the pack, Jacques immediately tried to attack the intruders, allowing time for the other wolves flee. Dasmel, trying to fulfill her duty as second in command, also attacked the hunters. Not being a good fighter, she was quickly contained by the hunters.

Dasmel and Jacques' collars looked expensive, great to sell and get good money. What obviously caught the attention of the hunters. They tried to pick Dasmel's necklace, which would prevent her from ever again have her powers. Jacques, in an attempt to save his sister, was also captured, fainting when attacked by one of the hunters. The hunters didn't try to remove his collar. They were afraid that the wolf would wake up and tri to bite them. With all the agitation, they also forgot about Dasmel's necklace. The necklace was forever lost in the grass.

Jacques woke up in a cage made ​​of glass and metal, his necklace was gone. He remembered what happened, immediately concerned with his sister's welfare. Looking around, he just found a bowl with water and another with food. Through the glass he could see only the door of a room and some people passing by. Hoping that someone could understand him, Jacques lay in his cell (after all, it was a prison for him) and happened to look and howl for those who passed near him.

Unsuccessfully with his escape, either by brute force (they electrified the cages), or by trying to make anyone notice that he wasn't a simply wolf, they started to give pills to him. He always left the pills untouchable in his bowl, until they began to dissolve it in his food without him noticing. Taking advantage of the effects of the medicine (that made him sleep), they injected odd fluids into his bloodstream.

Soon Jacques started to have reactions from that strage things and found that he was now called Experiment 91. His fur was becoming more and more black and extra limbs began to grow on his back. In a short time, his fur became completely black, except for his chest that had cleared up white. Also two black-feathered wings had grew in his back.

Weeks later, already giving up to the idea of some day escaping, he felt a huge change in his taste for food. The food given didn't appel to him. Soon, raw meat and blood were served to him in place of the old food and that food, appeled him. He felt like a real vampire and come to hate even more that humans that turned him into a monster.

Again he spent a few days without anything extraordinary happening. Then someone finally stopped in front of his cell and seemed to be interested in him. The first thing that came to his mind was to ask about his necklace. As he couldn't speak, he used the blood of his food, and drew on the glass of his cell, the best drawing that he could do of his necklace. The man just ran away, scared.

He happened to see, occasionally, some animals, from other wolves to rats, been removed from the lab, apparently dead. He thought if Dasmel would be okay or if himself would remain alive for long.

Jacques's despair peaked when he saw a wolf that seemed made ​​of grass, also with wings. He was sure that she could only be his dear Dasmel, dead. He didn't care about the electric shock he would receive from his cell, he just headbutted the glass. He noticed that they had turned off the electricity from the cages, and continued to invest in the glass, until he broke it, finally freeing himself.

He would first go to his necklace, he felt that it was in that building. Jac entered the first door he saw and met the same man of early, the one who ran scared. In his hands was the necklace that Jacques was looking for. He didn't think twice: attacked the man, knocking him into the ground while barking and growling. To the surprise of Jacques, the man puts the necklace around his neck and let him go. With luck in his favour, he discovered he wasn't the only experiment running away and he could smell the smoke of a fire in the building, allowing him to escape.

The black wolf became human one more time. He discovered that each of his eyes now had a different color: the right was golden and the left was green. His hair earned red parts and he lost his tanned skin. His blood-thirst continued. He definitely turned into a monster, he could only think about how he was no more Jacques, only a monster, only Experiment 91.

No home, no family, nothing, he spent his days without direction. Until he foud a boy-wolf who accepted 91 like he now was. And he is now living with his ​​beloved Fofolete, his boyfriend.
