Ramirez lives in a cabin in the woods, with his 13 year old daughter Ella. It was a remote place to live but they didn't live there by choice. Something strange was happening to the people in the small town outside the woods. People were disappearing at night, some of the bodies turned up days later, mutilated, and some were never found at all.
For his daughters' safety, Ramirez decided to move them away from the town. Ella was obviously scared, but he would do all he could to keep her safe. The locals were suspicious of everyone, and nobody with any sense ventures outside at night.
Ramirez looked across the kitchen at his daughter, and felt a pang of guilt. They weren't living a normal life, and he knew it. But he had no choice, it was safe for them here. 'Hey, we need to go the town to eat. I'm hungry.' Ella looked up at her dad, and replied 'I'm hungry too Dad, but can't we stay here? I don't like going to the town.'
Ramirez shuffled his feet, but they both knew they had to go and find food. Leaving the cabin behind them, they set off. After a while, the town was in sight. Dusk was falling, Ramirez knew he was cutting it fine. As they arrived on the edge of town, he noticed a young lad climbing out of his bedroom window and shimmying down the drainpipe. Not smart, Ramirez thought - no doubt his parents think he is safe up in his bedroom.
Ella looked at her Dad, and saw he was watching the young man. Within seconds, Ramirez had rushed him, and hit him hard over the head with a metal pipe. 'Ella, help me drag him to the trees', Ramirez instructed. Ella did as she was asked. Once Ramirez was sure it was safe, he looked at Ella and said 'you first, sweetheart'. She shook her head and stood back while Ramirez sank his teeth into the young mans' neck and drank his blood until he could drink no more. Ella had her fill after, and they both dragged the body away to dispose of in the nearby lake. Ramirez always felt it was safest for them not to leave the victims alive.
After getting back to the cabin, and cleaning themselves up, Ramirez hugged his daughter and whispered:"I'll keep you safe Ella, I love you. No-one will ever hurt you."
Ella smiled back at her doting father, and hoped he was right....
