Sir Alymere of Worcestershire
(est. 485-535 AD)
In service of King Arthur, and was inscribed as a knight of the round table.
Died in service to the king.

Sir Alymere was actually one of the first knights in service to King Arthur, but not much is known about him since he didn't end up going out on too many quests or escapades like the other knights, nor did he have illicit affairs with his king's wife.

Alymere was the king's steward; he took care of the affairs of Camelot while Arthur was out conquering the countryside and retrieving his sword and such. When the king returned, Alymere would update him on politics and the going-ons of his people, and was valued as a trusted adviser. He was knighted later on, and while he had some skill with a sword, his true abilities lied in bookkeeping.

Fighting alongside King Arthur in the Battle of Camlann, he was one of the many who died. His soul did ascend to heaven, but he never felt quite right there; it was as if he had some unfinished business left on earth. But what could it possibly be? He had lived a full life, and died honorably and battle, so it couldn't be his past bothering him; but he still felt as if he had a duty to fulfill.

When Alymere looked over at the earth though, and saw the youth of today, he was disgusted. Many of them completely disregarded learning! Why, he had a mind to go down there and teach them a thing or two. And that's when it hit him; this was his duty to fulfill; he had to teach the modern day youth, give them something to strive for.

Alymere owns and operates a very special library; only those who are deemed worthy may enter. It is considered neutral ground, so he often gets some very unusual people visiting; vampires, ghosts, and other supernatural entities.

Here Greek and Roman find themselves alive along these crowded shelves; and Shakespeare treads again his stage, and Chaucer paints anew his age; John Greenleaf Whittier
