The night sky was alight with the usual dancing of stars, a few meteors in the atmosphere streaking towards the ground. It was a fantastic display, and a perfect precursor to the main show that was about to begin.

The Cadogre sat on a snowbank, not bothered by the cold in the slightest as he waited for the first sign of color. It happened every few days, wheras anywhere else would only get this show once a year.

In the Arctic Frost though, such night sky’s were beautifully common; hence why Arion moved there in the first place. Everywhere else felt…confining.

First came a splash of green, winding across the darkness. Then blues began to flicker and wave like blades of grass. A hint of redish pink, whipping out across the entire sky like a whip, added yet another color to the display. Teals now, the Aurora Borealis scintillating in time with its own colorful display, dancing to some unheard song.

Thirty-Five Years, Five months, Seven days, Three Hours, and Forty seven minutes. That was how long Arion had been able to enjoy these sights. Fireworks held nothing to them, pictures only sparked a hint of emotion in his chest, and even the beauties of the forests, jungles, and meadows were temporary. No, here he felt at home. That was a feeling the Cadogre never got tired of. There were others here, whom with he met to watch these displays every few weeks. They understood in a way nobody else could. There were some who looked like him, but of a different origin. They would never understand.

The hint of a smile graced Arion’s features as he gazed skyward, watching the colors move this way and that. The entire time, a single star was visible behind the lighted display, sparkling as though dancing itself.

Perhaps, in time, they’d all be able to go home.
