Looking for immortality

Once one body had become old with it’s skin rippling into folds, hair becoming lackluster and grey, the body betraying itself as time pulled on. For a select few it was as easy as finding a new vessel to inhabit. Like a parasite working its way into the core of it’s host and taking over every fiber of their being.

He called himself a jumper. That’s the only way he could explain it in words. Having the ability to jump from one body to another. Through mouth to mouth contact it was so easy. Feeling his essence leave the body he was in and enter another. He never did worry about what happened to the soul of the person in whose body he had come to fancy. Maybe they went to heaven? If that was even real.

With every body came it’s previous owners little quirks. It just so happens he suddenly has cravings for all things fast food. Which suits him just fine not like he’d ever been good at cooking anyways. He may have added a taste for pizza, burritos, and chips to his palate he brought his love for collecting old keys with him. Never losing his love for them no matter how many bodies he switched from.

This time it happened earlier than usual. He found such a beautiful specimen to inhabit. It was a stroke of fate that the man who the body belonged to previously had enlisted in the military. There was no way out this time, not that he hadn’t fought his fair share of wars in the past. It was the first time he’d suffered such a devastating injury.

He lost his arm.

The perfection in which he had seen staring back at him in the mirror had been shattered. The shine from the slick metal reflecting the light that hit it practically blinding him. Like this huge eyesore that he couldn’t get rid of. He needed to find a new one, a new body that wasn’t so defective.

Now it was just a matter of waiting. Searching for that perfect being that would soon become his. It was thrilling.
