Under Construction!

Some things in the world can only be seen with a second lance, with a second sight. However, the people who have this ability - most of children - either lose this ability over time (if they ever had it), or the ability to see something “not there” slowly drives them into insanity.
Some things are not meant to be seen by human eyes. Some things are dark beyond thought, gnarled and twisted, foul beyond compare, and do not wish to be looked at with mortal eyes - and they will do anything they can to harm or break someone who has seen them.

However, some allow themselves to be seen by normal mortals of their own volition, or rarer yet, gift someone an item to view the “unseen,” or “bless” them with the sight themselves. Some beings yet still, however, simply live in the world to perform their job, their destiny, their livelihood - a task that may seem dull initially to most people's’ ears, but for for a certain miniature, dainty race of humanoid creatures, it is anything but.

Belle belongs to this race of beings; small and pixie-like, Belle is a kind of spirit entwined with the essence and fabric of nature and life itself. Her, and her peers, want to help maintain the balance in nature - a process known by many scientific names for those who cannot see, but nevertheless are ultimately one and the same. They are, in simple terms, “agents of nature.”

Belle groaned as her mother barged into her room, “Get up!” Belle grabbed a fistful of her blanket, and rolled over, cocooning herself. “But mo-”
“No ‘but mom’s,’ Belle! Get up!” Belle’s mother practically flew around the room in a dizzying frenzy, throwing open Belle’s curtains, much to her daughter’s dismay, and whispered under her breath, “After all this time, I can’t believe I raised such a lazy daughter!”
Belle frowned into her blanket, distorting her face and replied glumly, sleep still heavy on her voice, but with the resistance and zeal common in just about any teenager, “I’m not lazy!”
Belle’s mother smirked and slyly added, “Well then, who’s going to miss the coronation?”
Belle jumped up in her bed, eyes as wide as water droplets, “The ceremony? It’s today?”

Belle’s mother laughed warmly, “Yes! Now get up, before you’re late!”
Belle dashed out of her bed, practically falling over herself in her hurry, and quickly threw on her new clothing as her mother left the room, “Breakfast is downstairs!” Belle ran across her room, picking out her clothing: a new dress the seamstress next door made from salvaged material from one of those “human toys” - some large doll - that was silky smooth and still a vibrant turquoise, with lace trim and small gold buttons, black tights, her favorite “lucky” pink ribbon fashioned into a bow, and her sturdy boots. Belle dashed out of her room, plopping herself down at the table, and threw down her breakfast, a droplet of honey slathered on some muffin crumbs the humans made the day before, a cup full of water collected from the grass outside from the morning’s dew, and a few strips of collected robin egg yolk. Belle smiled, and waved to her mother as she rushed outside of her house, “Bye Mom, I love you!”
Belle was a totally ordinary girl. At least, for a girl in her station - she lived in the woods, in an old abandoned shoe fashioned long ago into a home by her great-grandfather, and she was part of a miniature race barely a few inches tall. She flew on life with her dream of, what her community called, a Guardian of the Forest. In fact, the only thing that made it so she wasn’t ordinary, in fact, it actually made her quite strange, was simply the following: Belle didn’t have any wings.

Being born without wings - which came in a wide assortment of sizes, shapes, and colors; anywhere from a dragonfly, to a butterfly, a moth, and any other winged insect, along with the extremely rare few born with angelic, bird-like wings - wasn’t unheard of, but it was nearly unheard of, let alone within her community. There wasn’t a particular omen or taboo associated with it, but it was considered extremely unlucky and unfortunate, since a person born without wings was unable to do a lot of things by themselves.

Belle was, however, blessed with an innate - and rather powerful, even before she was properly trained - ability with nature manipulation, and she was able to coax flowers to bloom, plants to move, and convince the stubbornest, shiest seed to sprout. But, despite that, Belle was seen as being handicapped, and her dream of becoming a Guardian was seen as an unlikely, if even possible, dream.

But despite her lack of wings, Belle trained hard. In fact, she trained extremely hard - as long as wings weren’t needed, she was able to outclass much of her fellow trainees, often to the dismay of students who would place much higher if she didn’t attend. She could outrun, outjump, dodge better, have better reflexes, talk to plants, and ride birds better than. She trained as often as she could to hone these skills, and her progress showed. However, the moment wings were needed, her scores plummeted - she was usually able to get around things, usually manipulating a plant to give her a lift, and creating some kind of contraption that would allow her to glide on a light breeze - but her timing was too slow, and her overall placement scores suffered.
