StoryThe candles burned low, shadows dancing along the violet-colored walls. The purple candles hung over the stone walls, a few robed figures sitting to watch the larger individual on a plush, throne like seat, adorned with jewelry and a ceremonial robe. Despite the ominous appearance, there were no ritual knives, sacrifices, or the like, nothing to indicate perverse or foul intent…at least in the immediate room.
On the padded throne, a dark Pegasus lounged, front hooves crossed and bat like wings folded serenely. Purple pigmentation marked the underside, the stallion’s hide black as night. His violet eyes scanned the congregation, recognizing a few of the species present. Reigns, dragarths, Eyrie’s, and many others among the twenty or so individuals.
“You all know why we must meet in secret. I say this because I am aware some individuals seem to make light of our circumstances” The Pegasus remarked, sitting up and looking around, his eyes flashing with annoyance.
“We once could practice in public, without guile or disgust. But now…we are forced to be here. But no matter. Our ranks grow steadily, showing that we truly are not alone in our plight. To those just joining, I extend a warm welcome. I am the leader of this society….you may call me Master Cabal.” He added, spreading her wings briefly before retracting them.
“I apologize if our security measures seem cryptic and unnecessary, but I assure you they are anything but such. We will be gaining a group of new members within the coming weeks, refugees from a nearby city society that was found out.” The dark figure took a few deep breaths before smiling ever so slightly.
“And, we will welcome them as though they are one of us, brothers in arms. Enough of the introductions however; let us now go partake, and renew our convictions. May it give us energy for the coming week.”
Cabal hopped off the throne, leading the first group into a side room lined with dimmed candles. Within a few moments, savage growls and all sorts of monstrous noises began to fill the air.
A Dragarth and Rreign walked out, meandering up to the surface after licking their lips of some red substance. They shed their cloaks as they neared the exit tunnel, prompting the dragarth to look over to his fellow.
“Is….it all so necessary?” He asked cautiously, nodding back to the secret meeting place, prompting the dragon to nod in agreement.
“Apparently yes…something about Cabal being shunned and mocked as a child…I’m surprised you even came here, to be honest. You did seem rather hesitant.” The rreign replied, prompting the dragarth to pause, but then continue onwards.
“Well, it’s all so…secretive…..” He paused again, then shaking his head.
“All of this for thinking cherry pie is more yummy than apple?”
