Cai's legs felt like someone kept ramming a knife into them.
He knew they were broken. They had let him watch and the thought alone made him sick. The pain had been unbearable and everything had quickly sunk into darkness.
They must have thrown him back into his cell. He lay here on a hard blank bed and every muscle ached, his legs burned and the pounded in pain incessantly.
Carefully he lifted himself up and leaned on his arms. Someone must have straightened his legs. He could feel the pressure of the splints. Why was it not clear to him. What did they get out of it? He couldn't make any sense of it, except maybe it was their way to make him suffer even more.
Cai looked around. Except for the bed, a sink and a toilet, the cell was empty. The sparse metal walls had lost all shine and the door fitted seamlessly into the picture. A small window was recessed into its upper third, but was closed so that one could not see out.
Cai looked to the door and breathed deeply. He had to get out of here even if the chances weren't good. He stepped his upper body further up and let himself glide off the bed. Something he immediately regretted. The pain that followed was unbearable and he didn't manage to suppress the painful outcry. Again darkness surrounded him.
