When Lupus was four years of age, his parents and himself were introduced to the Cadogre litter that belonged to the adults Lupus' parents had been working with for the past few years. It was essential to establish this trust with the Cadogre s and the humans that were to help them before they could enter the den safely. The Cadogres, without this 'bonding' beforehand would have reacted badly to anyone that approached the den. It was hesitant at first but both sets of parents soon relaxed with the arrangements as they became accustom to the new routine which consisted of whatever work that was needed, be it security or hauling work and taking care of the pups and Lupus.

Time passed and Lupus seemed to be taken with one of the smallest Cadogres they had in the litter. He would spend more time with this particular Cadogre than the others and when the parents came back to the den as their shift ended one night well into the routine, the little dark plated Cadogre pup followed after him. The Cadogre adults didn't mind and Lupus' parents were surprised, and it was seen as a beacon of hope for the colony. The first proper bonding of Cadogre and human since they had arrived.

Years flew by and the bond between the Cadogre, now named Cavea and Lupus seemed to strengthen. While Lupus grew into a cheerful, friendly and full of energy young teenager, Cavea seemed to adopt Lupus' mood and they did their tasks with either a cheerful smile or a cheeky, good natured smirk.

Then, one day as the small Cadogre and Handler were out mapping the terrain as they had done many time before, tragedy struck the growing colony. They were raided by opposers of the Conlonial projects. They did not stand a chance, even with the Cadogres available to them. The Raiders Cadogres were battle hardened, bigger and stronger than the colonies defensive group that had not fought—excluding sparring with other Cadogres.

Lupus, Cavea and their Mapping team returned from their three day trip to find the base in ruins, its people slain. Although the Cadogres Lupus had grew up with put up a savage fight for themselves and his parents, it was clear from the evidence scattered around them. The rest of the Mapping team managed to get the main computer back into some working order and sent out the distress signal.

It wasnt long before the remainder of the once successful colony was picked up by the military. The small handler and Cadogre were to be trained as Recon specialists.

The devistation of their home had a profund effect on the young Cadagore and his handler. They withdrew into themselves for a while when they were seperated from their friends. It took a while and some intesive training to for Lupus to open up again but Cavea never regained the bright personality he once had. He speaks rarely and only to Lupus.
