A Proclamation

of crimes against the naval forces of Spain, France, Italy, the Ottoman Empire, Morocco, Algiers and the good peoples of the Barbary Coast. The corsair known as Al-Saqr of the ship Seahawk will be hanged from the neck until dead and thereafter his body to be displayed.

i.
"Oi! Wotcher doing, rat? Little araby beggarboy, caught stealin' hand-in-pocket? Didn't yer mama learn you good? Too bad she's probably dead eh? Come 'ere, stop kickin' and shut up! No-one'll miss you anyway."

This man is hereby charged with multiple counts of unlawful piracy, two counts of murder, two counts of unlawful theft of owned goods, a count of savage pillaging and slaughter, nine counts of wilful destruction of personal and private possessions, five counts of arson, a count of poisoning and three counts of wilful destruction of trading goods for personal gain.

ii.
"Get down from there! Bloody kid, too skinny for the oars, too small for a slave. Never should'a taken you aboard, you hear! I said, get down, little hawk! Be careful! Yer growing too tall to be climbing rigging like that! Be careful dammit or you'll break your neck!"

The head to be displayed at the docks and the body to be left for the crows on a gibbet as a warning to those that practice the insidious crimes of piracy or to those who defy the laws of the crown. Removal of either part shall invite charges of treason against a royal decree, a count of piracy and a count of wilful destruction of private property owned by the crown.

iii.
"Captain's dead and gone. We're near foundering. We need a new leader or we'll all die here and now, every single one of us. So, hear me and hear well! Does any man or woman challenge me for the ship? Single combat, I dare you!! Swords and pistols, to the death!"

As charged, as punished by the royal charter of their majesties the Queen of Spain, the Kings of France, Italy, Portugal, Angola and the representatives of the sundry countries of the Barbary Coast. So witnessed and signed, this twenty fourth day of June of the year sixteen-twenty-one of our lord.

May this writ be now carried forth and be judged as law by the Kingdoms of the Barbary Coast.
